South News
September Edition

Meet our Behavior Interventionist, Wendi Little!
I help teachers and students have great days at South Elementary. I will be visiting your student's classroom every other week to discuss self-regulation and executive function (organization & problem solving) skills.
The first few months of school we will be focusing on the Zones of Regulation curriculum. Students in our district are encouraged to check in with themselves during the day and ask;
How am I feeling right now?
Am I ready to learn?
What can I do to move to a Zone that might be better for helping me achieve my goals?
So, what do the Zones mean?
- Red Zone - Angry, explosive
- Yellow Zone - Silly, anxious, excitable
- Green Zone - Ready to go! Let’s learn
- Blue Zone - Sad, tired or maybe even sick
The goal of the Zones of Regulation is to empower students to understand that all feelings are okay. It is what we do with those feelings that matters most. By teaching students about the Zones of Regulation, we can give them the power to move away from zones that are keeping them from their goals!
Looking forward to a great year together!
