Blue Ash Elementary
February 8, 2019
Dodge Ball Day!!
We are very proud of how our students played the game today. They demonstrated respect and good sportsmanship. Many dressed up to show their support for the Four Be's at BAE - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Problem Solver.
A special thank you to Mrs. Kolde and Mr. Weeks for organizing and preparing for this favorite event. And of course, to our DJ, Mrs "Cool School" Ostrowski for the awesome music.
Positive Behavior Interventions at BAE
Blue Ash Elementary is proud of our implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a framework of proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.
We teach our four building-wide behavioral expectations throughout our school day. They include:
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Be a Problem Solver
There are times, that even with instruction and practice, our children demonstrate difficulty following “The Four Be’s”. In these cases, our PBIS team has created additional instructional sessions specifically designed to reinforce our expected school behaviors. Each session of instruction will occur during the school day and last approximately 10 minutes. This instructional time is not a consequence or punishment for students, but is an additional opportunity for us to help children learn these important skills.
If your child should demonstrate a need for this additional instruction, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher so that you are aware.
We thank you for your continued partnership and support of our school-wide behavior expectations!
Notes from our Nurse
Illness Reminders:
If you child is ill, remember to call the school absence line at 513 686-1714. It can be difficult to decide when and how long to keep an ill child home from school. The timing of the absences is often important in order to decrease the spread of disease to others.
If your child has a fever, is vomiting or has diarrhea they must stay home until they no longer have the symptom for 24 hours without the use of medication to control the symptoms.
Check our school illness guidelines at .https://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2308 .The school district health handbook has more information and found on the district website at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2268 .

Did You Know?!? The neuroscience of singing shows that when we sing our neurotransmitters connect in new and different ways. It fires up the right temporal lobe of our brain, releasing endorphins that make us smarter, healthier, happier and more creative. When we sing with other people this effect is amplified. -Imperfect Harmony: Finding Happiness Singing with Others (Horn)
