Summary
The King of Navarre and his three lords, Berowne, Longaville, and Dumaine, swear an oath to scholarship, which includes fasting and avoiding contact with women for three years. The princess of France comes along and three other women named Rosaline, Maria, Katherine. The King or the Lords couldn't keep there oaths though because each of them falls in love with each of the 4 girls. Berowne sent a letter to Rosaline and it gets all mixed up. Everyone confesses their love for the Princess, Rosaline, Maria, Katherine.The King and his lords arrive at the Princess's pavilion dressed as Muscovites. The girls pull a prank on the boys and switch favors, so that the men will mistake them for each other, but once the boys come as themselves they reveal their prank. Later a messenger arrives to tell the Princess that her father has died, and she prepares to return to France. The women tell their suitors to seek them again in a year
