Still WANTED: Family Picture
I finally received the first one today, thank you!
Scholastic Book Fair is next week
Parents have a daily window from 9-10am to shop on their own. Or you can attend the Evening Scholastic Book Fair 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, December 7th. We have invited all the elementary families to attend the evening event because this is the only December/Holiday book fair in the district.
Each classroom will have a "Wish List" basket if anyone wishes to purchase the book and donate to the classroom.
WoW's Book Fair is not exactly the same as at the elementary schools. We do not stock all the little trinkets, posters and toys. It's strictly a book fair. Due to this and the fact that the book prices are astronomically marked up, I've never really pushed the fundraiser on my families.
However, if you do wish for your child to shop and send in cash or an e-wallet option, then please put a note in your child's folder. We will take them down to shop on Tuesday.
We are running low on paper towels
We are not allowed to ask parents for supplies. However...I will say that there are some things that we use (not school supplied) and run out of very quickly:
- real Paper towels - the school provided towels are the thin brown ones that absorb absolutely nothing when it comes to washing tables multiple times a day and cleaning up drink spills.
Don't forget to come help decorate the trees at the park tomorrow!
Students have worked all week to create edible ornaments for the animals.
Library books should not stay in folders or backpacks. Keep them at home for reading and rereading until Thursday.
Checking out books from WoW's Lending Library
These books can be read by any family member to your student. As you know, multiple readings of the same book greatly improve literacy skills for children.
Here is how this will work:
- Books will be DUE on Thursday each week,
- A new book will be checked out on Thursday
- Students are allowed to have TWO books checked out at the same time
- Students may NOT check out any more books until those are returned
- However, if the two books have not been returned, a book can be selected for the classroom library but it will not go home.
- There will be a Name Card in a pocket for the book, this must stay in the pocket
- If a book is lost or damaged, we ask that it be replaced with a gently-used book from your home library. Do not buy a new book (our library consists of donations)
Happy Reading!
As part of the transition to winter, please reference this chart for our policy of when we will or will not go outside.
