- Create checklists with tasks that need to be completed
- Designate a study space that has few distractions
- Set a consistent study time to establish a regular daily routine
- Keep track of course work by using notebooks and folders
MARCH MADNESS ~ Congratulation to Mrs. Ginn ’s homeroom class! This class had the highest percentage of learning lab attendance in March. Way to go! Mrs. Ginn will be sending scholars their prize options today! Also, congratulations to Piper B. who had the highest learning lab attendance out of all of our high school scholars! Check your email for an awesome certificate and prize!
MRS. SMITH’S TIP OF THE WEEK ~ Has your scholar ever said the words “I just don’t test well” or “tests make me nervous?” Test anxiety is very common. One way to overcome this anxiety is to make sure they are prepared for the test. They can prepare by taking focus notes throughout the lesson to use as a study guide. Another way is to mentally prepare by doing breathing exercises or even yoga! As the testing season is upon us, scholars can try these strategies and see which ones help.

MULTI -TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORTS (MTSS) ~ This week’s tip is focused on how learning coaches play an important role within the MTSS framework. Learning coaches play a critical role in supporting what their scholars are learning in school. Research is clear that the more learning coaches are involved in their scholar’s learning, the higher the scholar achievement. They can be involved in the process by communicating any concerns they may have to their scholar’s teacher, providing insight into their scholar’s learning and development, and assisting with identified interventions at home, such as using a reward system for positive behavior and academic achievement.
COLLEGE RESOURCES
Upcoming SAT Registration Deadline ~ Juniors, do you still need to register for the upcoming SAT exam on Saturday, May 4? Don’t miss the registration deadline, which is this Friday, April 5. Learn more about the SAT and registration.

The goal is to provide you with the resources, information and tools needed to assist you with the college financial aid process. WGS will allow you to manage your Cal Grant and/or Chafee account(s) online by letting you view updates, make school changes, make address changes, make corrections, and post leave of absence requests. It is important for you to understand that your WGS account does not replace your school or FAFSA accounts. Each account must be monitored and managed independently.
