The 4th Nine Weeks with Mr. Foreman
They Will Soon Be Fifth Graders!
Welcome Back, Welcome Back, Welcome Back
Increased expectations is the theme for our final nine weeks of the year as we look towards fifth grade. We are starting new word study units, our second Jamestown/Colonial Virginia unit, and a Middle Ages unit in language arts. I really allow the students to express themselves in the final nine weeks and I expect them to be using all of the items we have learned throughout the year and incorporating them in their work. I will be sending home copies of the weather forecasts they created before spring break so you can see how awesome it is when everything comes together. Your children set the standard for fourth grade with their recordings!
The big shadow hanging over the fourth nine weeks are the SOL tests. Our days our Wednesday, May 13th for reading and Monday and Wednesday May 18th and 20th for math. Please check to see if you have any appointments scheduled for those days if you can move them, as makeups for SOLs can be more stressful for students. All classes are gearing up for the tests by increasing our reading loads and working on our test taking skills. Please let me know if you have any questions.
