District News
Ladies and Gentlemen,
A couple of reminders/requests as we hurtle towards the end of the school year:
Item 1 - All Locations:
I’d like to remind all employees of the importance of maintaining day-to-day vigilance for suspicious persons, vehicles and circumstances. We are all understandably focused on our daily tasks, but the vigilant “eyes and ears” of our 7,000 employees and 55,000 students are perhaps the District’s greatest asset when it comes to keeping our campuses and other facilities safe. As the saying goes, if you see something, say something.
Do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you observe suspicious persons, vehicles or circumstances that you believe may pose a threat to you or others at your location. In such circumstances, call 9-1-1 first.
Item 2 - Non-Campus / Administrative / Auxiliary / Office Facilities:
I am also requesting that all employees assigned to a non-campus facility watch the “Run, Hide, Fight” video (6 minutes) (link to video is below). Many of you have viewed this video in the past, but it is important to periodically review the actions/options available to non-campus staff during a violence-related emergency. Also take a few moments to re-familiarize yourself with locations of exits and the general layout of your building and work environment.
The “Run, Hide, Fight” video is available here: http://pisdtv.pisd.edu/features/0y19o9EmrdKrLP_3psXD
Important Note: The information/tactics in the “Run, Hide, Fight” video are for administrative, non-campus locations where students are not present. Campuses should continue to follow their Standard Response Protocol (SRP) training (e.g. Lockdown (with Option to Run), Lockout, Evacuate, Shelter).
Please forward this email as needed and/or share its contents with employees who do not have routine access to email.
Sincerely,
Joe

Transfers for professionals and paraprofessionals are an opportunity for employees to explore other positions within their campus or other campuses. Teachers seeking a lateral transfer must be at the current campus a minimum of two years. If a teacher was involuntarily reassigned but chooses to transfer, the teacher loses their protection from being reassigned again. Paraprofessionals may transfer at any time. Below are a few reminders regarding the transfer process:
- Deadline for lateral transfers: June 5, 2017.
- Employee must first apply on line by using the TEAMS Employee Transfer . Log-in information is included in the manual.
- To submit a transfer, FANS and Transportation employees must contact the PISD Help Desk for their User ID and Password.
- It is the employee's responsibility to monitor open positions.
- The employee is to notify the current Principal and/or Supervisor when the employee has completed a transfer request. The current Principal and/or Supervisor must approve the transfer in TEAMS before the employee may interview for positions.
- Employee is encouraged to send a letter of interest and a resume to the Principal and/or Supervisor regarding the position(s).
- The Principal and/or Supervisor may choose to interview some or all candidates before
making a recommendation. Human Resources cannot guarantee an interview
or transfer.
