Wrapping January up...

Good afternoon! Well I hope everyone was able to stay warm this week and as is usual in Chicago we will now have about an 80-degree swing in temperatures with chances of rain and possible thunderstorms Monday. This is a great opportunity to talk about mathematics problems and how negative numbers work in our daily lives. I hope you were able to take advantage of the forced restful days like my family did. Not having school, sports, and activities to fill our days we took the time to read and play board games along with some science experiments watching bubbles and boiling water interact with the sub-zero temperatures.

Although we only had two days of school this week they were filled with a lot of learning opportunities. Our after school enrichment met both Tuesday and today. Thank you to the PTO volunteers and to Mrs. Moline for rearranging all of the great enriching fun learning experiences for our Lincoln students. We will continue these all of next week.

Next week is another full week. Thursday we will have our February PTO meeting beginning at 4:30. Our district is also hosting a parent book club which I will be involved in facilitating next Thursday morning at 9:15 am and again in the evening at 6:30 at Fox Ridge. We are reading Mindful Parenting and will discuss part 1 which includes the introduction, and chapters titled Generation Stress and the stress response in the brain.

Friday is also our Family Lincoln Bingo Night. I look forward to seeing our families there to have fun to play bingo and win some great prizes through raffles and auction items.

St. Baldrick’s

Lincoln School will be participating in the D303 St. Baldrick’s event on March 15th. Students will be able to purchase t-shirts and hair extensions here at school to help raise money for the foundation. If they are interested, they can also volunteer to shave their head! We had our kick-off assembly last Friday, and more information was sent about the event including the annual penny wars.
