College and Career Studies ~ Ms. Parker, Mrs. Dickerson, and Mr. Thames
In College & Careers this week we will begin the groundwork for our first research paper. We will be looking into the resources available here at STEAM in our Media Library, we will learn how to create an introduction and outline our paper. Students will also be introduced to the grading rubric and will have the chance to “grade” two writing samples in order to better understand the elements I will be looking for in their own papers.
Pre-AP Science ~ Mrs. Goulding and Ms. Mondon
This is a short week for us so, enjoy Monday with your sweet kiddos but don’t forget that I need them back on Tuesday with their Vocabulary Quiz Corrections! “The difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary is that little extra.” ~Unknown. That is our quote for the week, we talk about a new quote each Monday (Tuesday this week) and reflect on our DINB Blogs about the class discussion on it. Our learning target is continuing on the physical properties, locations and movements of our solar system. We will be working fast and furious on their SSEP Proposals for the next couple of weeks. Friday, October 16 is our Solar System Assessment. As I don’t assign much written homework, I do ask that your students spend 10 minutes a night studying the resources they have on their study rings and/or adding new notes to that ring. I know this is challenging but I want to truly help develop these note taking and study skills for our students. Set the timer for 10 minutes :) Thanks for all of your support!
Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice
We will continue working on multiplying and dividing decimals this week. Students will have a test on Friday over decimals. We will also be helping support the science SSEP experiments with data collection. Students will work on reviewing different types of graphs and how to interpret the data represented in the graphs. We will create, collect, interpret, and represent our own data by seeing how high a pencil can bounce.
Accelerated Math ~ Mrs. Baird
We will continue to work on solving equations and inequalities in class. There will be an Equation/Inequality Test on Friday.
STEAM Science ~ Mrs. Cornell

This week in art we are working on printmaking, researching, and experimenting! Yes, we will see the world of art and science combine! Students have already been having fun with monoprinting, and that is just scratching the surface. We will be making mini artworks this unit and students will creatively end up with one print, one mosaic, and one mixed-media board.

Beginning Band ~ Mr. Sypert
We have had a great week in band. Students should be practicing their instruments at least 10 minutes each day. Practicing can be anything from buzzing on the mouthpiece or practicing their music notes on musicracer.com. Thanks for the support!
P.E. ~ Mrs. Woolsey
Uniforms have been sent home! Please make sure your child has his/her uniform each day for PE. Please review the "changing room" guidelines/policies and the expectations for having their uniform here to wear each day. Please also make sure BOTH the shirt and shorts are labeled with "First & Last" name PRINTED with NO symbols, pictures, or drawings.
We just completed our "whiffle ball" unit and are now beginning our "football" unit.
