Message from Miss Melanie

What a busy couple of weeks since our last newsletter. You may have seen a couple of familiar faces in the news after our Kimberley 9's carnival with a couple of our students having a photo taken with Bailey Banfield on the day, more details below. We also had some great participation in the multi-sports day on Friday of last week. Congratulations to all who participated and thank you to the staff for supporting the students to be able to attend these events.

We have the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday 13th November, our candidates are preparing themselves for this special occasion. We look forward to sharing this Mass at 9.00am.

Thank you to the families who responded to our survey, your feedback is welcomed. The students also completed a survey and it was pleasing to read how happy they are at school and loving the opportunities for them to learn about God, learn to read and write and most importantly, join in all the sporting activities we offer.

Our AGM will be held after the Parent/Teacher Interviews on Wednesday 23rd November at 5pm in the Multi-purpose Room. All families are welcome to attend and no rsvp is required.

Thank you to Year 1 for their assembly item on Friday. It is always great to see our students get up at assembly to present. Congratulations to all of our merit certificate winners too. Our next assembly is Week 6, Friday 18th November.

This week's photo is me with one of the most inspirational men I have known. This legendary Aboriginal man is going to be the first Aboriginal Supreme Court Judge in Western Australia, Justice Lundberg, and he consistently encourages education as a way to a brighter future for all people, especially Aboriginal people. I am proud to call this man my friend and can't wait to see him begin his new role in November. I have included the link to the article in the west Australian about his appointment.

God Bless.

Miss Melanie

Rejoicing Religion

We have the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday 13th November at 9am. We look forward to seeing all the families attending to support our candidates. Further details will be made available shortly.

Our whole school mass has been postponed, we will provide updates through Seesaw when this will be held.

The Sports Scoop

The Cable Beach Kimberley 9's Carnival was a fun day with two of our students making the news with Fremantle's Bailey Banfield. We had a couple of wins, a couple of losses and a draw but most importantly we had fun. Thanks to Coach Mr Dan for the training leading up to the carnival and to Mr Chase who helped to coach on the day. Congratulations to former student Atik whose design was included in the carnival shirts.

We also had students represent Holy Rosary in Broome for the Multi-sports Day. We had teams in soccer, cricket and tennis. Thank you to Miss Jess, Miss Christine and Miss Tanika for supporting the students on the day. As usual our teams tried their best and had a fun day out.

Healthy Eating

Just a reminder to all families that we encourage healthy eating for recess and lunch. We ask that you provide less processed and packaged foods (where possible) and include fruit, vegetables and protein in your child's lunch box each day. All lunch boxes are kept in a fridge so food is less likely to spoil. If you are struggling to get your child to eat these healthy options, please discuss the matter with your class teacher so that they can work with you to encourage healthy eating.

Attendance

A reminder that school starts at 7.55am and finishes at 2.20pm. Students should not be at school before 7.35am or after 2.35pm as there is NO supervision.

We will be holding a Pool Party on Thursday 8th of December for all students with excellent attendance or who improve their attendance over the term. Please encourage your child to come to school everyday so that they can attend our pool party and learn lots in the process.
