RMS Weekly Event Calendar

March 5 - March 9

What's going on at RMS?

As educators, we are continually talking about our lack of time, our lack of resources, and all the other challenges we face each day. Many times it is easier to focus on the negative or on the things we feel we don't have, rather than putting our energy into the things we can control. I came across this message last week and thought it was very powerful...not only for adults, but also for students. As we work on teaching the "whole child" and preparing them for future success, the list below outlines traits we should be emphasizing with our students every day. After all, aren't these the characteristics we respect in successful people???

10 Things that take

"ZERO"

talent, but will get you

100%

RESPECT

1. Being on time

2. Work Ethic

3. Effort

4. Body Language

5. Energy

6. Attitude

7. Passion

8. Being Coachable

9. Doing extra

10. Being prepared

I hope our students see all of those characteristics in us each and every day!

Kahoot

The formative assessment tool we are highlighting this week is Kahoot. Kahoot is a technology tool that can be used to administer quizzes, discussions, or surveys. It is a game based classroom response system that can be played by the whole class in real time. Multiple choice questions are projected on the screen and students can answer the questions with their computer. It is an excellent formative assessment tool by providing instant feedback to both teachers and students! Try it this week with your students!

Teacher Shoutout!!

A huge SHOUT OUT to the teachers who came to Mrs. Smith's class to watch her students perform their Greek Character Demonstrations. The students did an awesome job and enjoyed having all the visitors support them in the classroom. I encourage you to take time this week and go in another teacher's classroom. There is so many exciting things to learn from each other!!

We appreciate you being at Russellville Middle School every day during the month of February....our students appreciate it too! They love all the great things you are doing in your classroom and are happy to see you every day!

This month our perfect attendance percentage was 46% which down from 51% in January. I encourage everyone to be aware of their attendance and make every effort possible to be here at school every day. Our students need you!
