News to Know...
Dear Stoller Families,
I hope you have all had a good week. Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up October 10th and 11th. Please look for communication from us next week on sign-ups. I understand this is going to be a tight timeline as you may need to be scheduling your conference time with barely a weeks notice. I appreciate your patience as we have been working hard as a team to formulate a plan for coordinating conference scheduling for approximately 1600 students.
Thank you all for your understanding.

After School Activities Bus
Last Reminder...
After school activities buses will feature “transit style” bus routes for students. Students will be assigned stops within ½ mile of their homes. All stops will allow students to utilize sidewalks and not have to cross busy streets. The majority of stops will be located near major housing areas (apartments, community centers or neighborhood elementary schools). The advantage to having assigned stops is the ability for parents to access the My Stop App to track their child’s bus.
The activities bus is for those students who are eligible to ride the school bus (not walkers) and plan to ride the activity bus on a regular basis.
After school activities buses will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, leaving Stoller At 5:10pm beginning Tuesday, October 16th and ending Thursday, May 23rd.
If you need to request bus service for your student please fill out the Activity Bus Request form (these forms are also available in the attendance office) and turn it in to the attendance office.
OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books)
It is time to start making teams for OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books)! You will need to fill out an OBOB Contract and Team Registration form. Forms are available from Ms. Gillespie in B5 from Mrs. Anderson in the library, or you can print the forms from the links above. There will be a brief, optional, informational meeting Wednesday, October 3rd at 8:30am in B5 for people who are new to OBOB, Stoller, or OBOB at Stoller. Form your team and start reading.

Stoller PTO
Thank you for everyone who attended our first General PTO Meeting. We presented a lot of information and received some great feedback. The biggest “take away” the Board left with is the need to share more information about the big projects. Over the next week, we will be working with Stoller’s Staff to better show the visions for the Maker Space, Library and Hall Monitors. This is exactly the type of feedback the PTO Board is looking for!
Donations keep coming in. If you have made a donation via PayPal or check and need a receipt for company matching or tax purposes, please email Chris at StollerPTOTreas@gmail.com. Please provide your name, as well as the date and amount of your donation. You will receive a receipt via email. If you planning on donating via check, thanks to a suggestion by a Stoller parent, the main office can now issue you a receipt when you drop off the check.
Please look for volunteer opportunities coming out via email for the upcoming Book Fair, Clothes Closet and Art Lit.
Thank you for your support of the PTO. Together we are making Stoller the best It can be!
Art Literacy Is Looking For Volunteers
Last Reminder...
Join us for this opportunity to enrich your child’s classroom experience with art history lessons and hands-on art projects. Art backgrounds are not needed, just an interest in spending a day helping students tap into their creativity!
The first training date is Tuesday, October 9th at 9:15am in the new Art Lit Classroom. Volunteers must be cleared through the Beaverton School District before they can work in the classroom. This can be done by clicking on the Get Involved Page on the Stoller PTO website.
Contact Chandra Innes at StollerPTOArtLit@gmail.com for further information!
Talented and Gifted (TAG)
Last Reminder...
Every year all students are considered for identification as Talented and Gifted in the Beaverton School District. District policy defines gifted students as those who score at or above the 97th percentile on a standardized, nationally normed test of mental ability and/or academic achievement. Behavioral, learning, and/or performance information is also considered before a student is identified for TAG services.
If you think your child might exhibit qualities that typically are used to describe giftedness, you may wish to complete a Parent Information Form which can also be picked up from the main office. Completing this form does not guarantee that your child will be tested; it gives the TAG committee additional information in the nomination process.
Learning Options
The application timeline has changed for the 2019-2020 school year. The lottery application phase has been shortened to make Second Consideration applications available earlier. This will allow students more time to work on their applications and schools more time to review them.
The Beaverton School District is nationally recognized for high student achievement and innovative programs. Beaverton students in grades 6-12 have the opportunity to investigate learning options that best fit their academic needs. Students can choose their neighborhood school or apply for one of a number of learning options. Transportation is provided.
Applications for the 2019-2020 school year will be available starting Monday, October 15, 2018. Please plan to attend one or more of the open houses that are available (dates and times coming soon). Students may only select one option on their application, so do some early investigation of the options online.
All applicants must reside within the Beaverton School District boundaries. Beginning October 15, current Beaverton School District students are able to apply online using their student ID. Resident students not currently attending a Beaverton school, or who do not have Internet access, will need to complete a paper application available online, or at any school office beginning October 15, 2018. Please give careful consideration to your choice of school. Once an application has been submitted, no changes will be allowed.
Applications must be received no later than Friday, December 7, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. (PST).
