The Bonham Broadcast
Bonham Middle School
Welcome to our 2020-2021 School Year - 3rd 6 Weeks
The conditions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic are continually evolving, and Temple ISD’s Safe Return to School plans are being constantly evaluated to adapt to the continuing trends of the COVID-19 virus, especially in Bell County. We are looking forward to our safe return after the holidays on January 5, 2021.
Bonham MS has had a great start to our 2020-2021 School Year! We are being successful here at Bonham being proactive, following TISD policies by practicing personal spacing and sanitizing our classrooms to keep our students safe. Our students are doing great and we can't wait for the rest of our students to return. We are currently at 80% on campus learning and we are continuing to work hard to keep you informed.
As you know TISD is offering two options of instructional delivery for our students: traditional on campus, or remote learning at home. Beginning the 2nd 6 weeks we moved to a dedicated remote teacher for Math, Science, ELAR, and SOST. This is working well; however, our students that are still struggling will be returning to campus on January 5, 2021 for on-campus learning.
Parent and Community support is invaluable to our campus' success and you and/or your organization has faithfully demonstrated that through your partnership with Bonham Middle School. We want to make sure that you and other community members are aware of the incredible things that are happening at Bonham MS.
We are pleased to share the 3rd publication for our 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to share our story throughout the school year with you and others across the Temple area! If you know of other businesses, organizations or individuals that may be interested in staying up to date on Bonham Middle School, please send us their contact information and we will add them to our distribution list. Thank you for your support and we look forward to exploring new ways to grow our partnership. If you ever have any questions or ideas about how we can support each other, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Bonham Middle School - Then and Now
Atop a hill on Midway Drive overlooking Pecan Valley and Bird Creek, sits Bonham Middle School. Bonham MS opened its doors in 1969 as part of a bond package. The campus, named in honor of Alamo defender James Butler Bonham, served as a 7-9 junior high campus. Mr. Tommy Cox was the campus's first principal. the building was about half the size that it is now, with just two wings, both shorter than the current structure. But what made Bonham stand out against the other TISD junior highs was that the building had air conditioning! Now a middle school campus, Bonham proudly serves students in grades 6-8.
At the beginning, Bonham did not offer Girls Athletics classes, only Girls P.E. Girls took a Home Economics course and the boys took Shop. There were no calculators for math or science classes, and there were no computers with internet to conduct research. To call home, students paid 10 cents at the payphone in the student center.
Today, as a Technology Academy, Bonham Middle School provides all students with educational opportunities in courses that serve as the introduction to the Career and Technology Education pathways at THS. While band, choir, and orchestra have been offered every year of Bonham's existence, art and theatre courses now round out the Fine Arts department.
The Bonham Bulldogs have experienced many changes throughout its years, but the spirit of the campus has remained the same. It is evident that hard work truly does pay off.
Bonham serves over 700 students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th grade.
Mascot: Bulldog Colors: Orange, White and Blue
