Sherman Stars - Working Together for a Bright Future!
Principal's Message
Hi Sherman Families:
Students are finding their stride here at Sherman! We've been hard at work teaching and learning routines and expectations and it is certainly showing. Hopefully you are all finding a sense of routine at home which is helping with the transition back into the school year.
Our focus this week was on our CORE Value of Responsibility. Students learned throughout the week what it means to be a Responsible student at Sherman School. Each morning we started out by having our 5th graders share our Responsibility "I Can" statements during morning announcements. Teachers also use different books to help children understand and draw connections to our CORE Value of Responsibility. Ask your student what it means to be responsible at Sherman School! I know with my own young children, I often reference their school CORE Values while teaching them how to be Responsible around our home - It is an easy connection to make.
We also held our Recess Rodeo this week where students learned about playground expectations and how to responsibly play games. After the completion of the Rodeo, we bring out all of the playground equipment out. Our playground and fields are now in full swing!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! It looks like it may be unusually warm for this time of year. Please check out our Community Events and Resource Flyers for activities you may consider for your student. Click HERE for some fun activities around town this weekend. Lastly, please review info on our Sherman Star River Run as that is right around the corner!!!!
Sincerely,
Joel Dimock
