BARK Parent Invitation Email
A few weeks back, families should have received an email about Wylie ISD switching to BARK for Schools for online monitoring. As part of our services with BARK, there is a free parent portal, which allows parents to receive after-hours alerts if BARK detects potentially time-sensitive issues. Families can also see what content is flagged and stay informed about their child’s online activity – a key piece to ensuring student safety!
On Monday morning, Aug. 21, families received an email invitation from BARK inviting them to activate their parent portal account. The subject line will state, “Confirm your contact info to get safety alerts [your student name]’s school.” The invitation will be sent from the schools@bark.us email address. If you have any questions or any trouble accessing the account, please feel free to reply to the email invitation – it will be sent directly to the BARK Support Team on the backend. If you do not receive an invitation on Monday, please check your spam folder or email communications@wylieisd.net.

Harrison Traffic Pattern
Buc Families,
Please help us keep our students and staff safe during drop of and pick up at Harrison by following the traffic procedures below.
Parents, please only drop off or pick up your students in the designated zone on campus. While it may be more convenient to drop off or pick up at the other locations, we want to keep our students safe during arrival and dismissal. The map below shows the designated drop-off zone for our campus. We have experienced issues with morning drop-off, such as parents dropping off their students on Ballard, in the bus loop, on the north side of the school, and at the Wylie ISD administration building. Dropping off students in these unauthorized locations creates a significant safety hazard and backs up traffic in the area.
The district continues to explore how to improve the traffic at our campus and will consult with the city on possible options. However, in the meantime, please help us keep our kids safe by following our school’s current traffic pattern.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

WYLIE WAY RELATIONAL SKILLS WEEKLY LESSONS
New Law - E-Cigarettes/Vaping & Wylie ISD Consequences
In the most recent legislative session, Texas lawmakers passed House Bill 114, which will require that students who sell, give, have, or use an e-cigarette or vape within 300 feet of school property be sent to a disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP). The bill officially goes into effect Sept. 1.
Over the summer, Wylie ISD worked with the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (DWEIC) to create an alternative discipline route for first-time e-cigarette offenders (excluding THC/drug-related infractions) through the District of Innovation (DOI) plan. In August, the Board of Trustees approved the amended DOI plan. Under this plan, first violations will result in on-campus disciplinary actions, while subsequent offenses will lead to placement in DAEP. It’s important to note that first-time drug offenders will continue to have mandatory DAEP placement.
We value our partnership with families and strongly urge parents to engage in continuous dialogues regarding vaping and its detrimental consequences. Not only is vaping a violation of the Student Code of Conduct, but it also violates the law, which requires individuals to be at least 21 years old to purchase tobacco items, including e-cigarettes, cigarettes, and cigars. Additionally, research suggests that vaping negatively impacts health. We care about our students’ well-being and don’t want them to experience possible health consequences from vaping. We also want them in the classroom, focused on their learning, rather than facing in-school suspensions or DAEP placements.
