November Positive Office Referrals
Cuyahoga Falls City Schools utilizes PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) as a way to focus on the positive behaviors and how to change behaviors by using positive reinforcement. This goes hand-in-hand with our code of conduct that provides discipline procedures for negative behaviors. In wanting to help reinforce the positive behaviors students exhibit, Silver Lake Elementary is using a Positive Student Referral System where staff members can refer a student to the principal but for positive reasons.
Congratulations to the Silver Lakers on their Positive Referral to my office!

Food Drive and Assembly
This year our Student Council held our Food Drive and we were able to collect over 900 items to donate to both Falls Creek Community Church as well as Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors. We helped FCCC build 15 more boxes for families as a result. When we combine this with our Pack the Pantry Drive to help our High School during Football season, we have helped to collect over 1300 items!!
At the reveal assembly, we had some fun and a few students got to pie me in the face :)
Traffic Reminders
If you are dropping of your students and stop in front of a fire hydrant, please be sure to not leave your vehicle. If you want to leave your vehicle, remember to think about safety and not block a hydrant.
Also when dropping of your students, please only let them out of the vehicle when you are on the curb side. It is not safe to do so on the left side and it is not courteous to your fellow parents and other cars trying to use the road.
Kdg parents dropping off and picking up their students. Avoid the bus area in the back. The bushes to the fence is the area we need to keep clear. The area in front of the field and after the fence is where we ask parents to park.
Playground Use Outside of School Hours
After school, once students have joined their parents/guardians and are in their care and under their supervision, students may be on the playground sets. Again, this is an issue with supervision and we do not want anything to happen to our little Black Tigers.
Parents with students picking up younger siblings (HS or MS students): please have conversations regarding how they should not be playing on the equipment when our day is still in session. I understand that older students get out earlier but that becomes a disruption to the end of the day here. I appreciate all of your help with this matter.
B.L.A.M.
New this year, students will be recognized for their B.L.A.M.-like qualities, choices, attitudes and actions. Below you can see those recognized in November

From the Clinic
Medications
*Any parents wishing to have their student take medicine at school need to bring the medications to the clinic. Medications (prescription or over-the-counter) need to be in an unopened box as well as not be expired. Our School Medical Assistant will have a form to fill out.Cough Drops
It has been brought to my attention that student's are coming to school with cough drops. Unfortunately, student's are not allowed to have cough drops in school due to them being a choking hazard.
If you have any questions, please contact the clinic Monday thru Friday 8:30am-3:30pm at 330-926-3811 ext.502876.
Thank you,
M.Reinesto, CCMA
