Barley Sheaf Family Bulletin

May 2023

From Our Principal

Dear Barley Sheaf Parents,

I hope you enjoyed your Spring Break and had time to relax with family and friends. As we head into the final weeks of the school year, I wanted to share that as of August 1st, I will be retiring from my position as Barley Sheaf principal. The past 27 years have seemed to fly by. While I am looking forward to my retirement, I will miss seeing your children each day and working with the wonderful staff members at Barley Sheaf.

I also want to thank and congratulate Mrs. Rosie Hanigan, special education teacher, and Mrs. Sheila Rozansky, second grade teacher, who will also be retiring at the end of the year. We are all leaving with happy memories of an amazing school.

Before the year wraps up, we have many activities planned. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events like Family Fun Night or Field Day. Please see the calendar for additional events you may want to attend.

Sincerely,

Karen L. Gabruk

Principal

MEET OUR RESOURCE ROOM AND SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHERS!

FROM Our VICE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Families,

The students are buzzing with excitement about the new playground equipment! We are so grateful to the Barley Sheaf PTO for their generosity, and to all the families who have supported PTO events and made this purchase possible. I am proud of our students for following these safety guidelines on the new playground.

It is wonderful to see many of our neighboring families taking advantage of opportunities to walk, bike, and scooter to school. We continue to hear concerns from families in the surrounding neighborhoods about traffic and safety issues. Please click here to review dismissal protocols that were shared with families on April 3. Additionally, if you are picking your child up at dismissal, please refrain from lining up prior to 3:15 pm to limit traffic. As temperatures rise, please remember to turn cars off when you arrive to prevent idling. Your cooperation and consideration for the safety and well-being of our students and neighboring families is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mary Jane Custy

Vice Principal
