A Note from Mrs. Buc

I placed in your child's Friday Folder a parent/ child joint assignment. Please send it back once it is filled out. It is not due until September 29th. Our first field trip was a success and I cannot believe how awesome all the children are at counting money! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Enjoy the Shabbat Picnic if you are going.

Shabbat Shalom!

What Did We Learn This Week?

Language Arts

It was such a busy week during our literacy block. FLoSZ was our spelling rule this week. Upon our return from the ACFB, we wrote a paragraph about our field trip which had to include a topic sentence, at least 3 details and a concluding sentence. Also, we learned about sequencing in our stories. We read a Marc Brown book called Arthur's First Sleepover and practiced sequencing it to retell the story using cue words like first, then, next, last. Also, we reviewed all the skills we have learned in grammar: complete and incomplete sentences, subjects and predicates.

Math

You cannot go wrong with Munchy Math as our place value culmination activity. Yum! It was also fun reviewing money this week. We practiced showing amounts in different ways and counted money.

Tefillah / Class Meeting

This week we talked about our tzedakah project that supports the Atlanta Community Food Bank. We made posters with a partner to hang around the school to advertise when our food drive is and what to bring to support it! The barrels will be in the carpool lobby on Monday so please help spread the word and donate to this wonderful Mitzvah project!

Hebrew

Dear 2nd grade parents,

Rosh Hashanah ראש השנה was our main subject this past week. We sang holiday songs, learned about the symbols and customs of the חגCHAG (holiday) and learned the names of the Hebrew months.

We also started working in our new holiday booklet.
