Language Science News
Hi everyone, welcome to Language Science at Homestead! I am looking forward to a great 2016-2017 school year.
A little about me...
This is my third year teaching Language Science at Homestead. I taught in Richardson ISD for seven years, six as a special education teacher and one as a dyslexia interventionist. Prior to that I worked at Frito-Lay headquarters in Plano for six years working in both Operations and Purchasing.
My family and I live in The Colony. My husband and I have four kids. Haley is a college freshman, Trinity is in 9th grade, Zoey is in 7th grade and our son Cole is in first grade at Homestead. My favorite things outside of school are spending time with my family and exercising!
We are talented!!!!!
It's important to remember that we all have different talents and gifts. We are going to celebrate our talents on our "We Are Talented" bulletin board; the students can showcase their talents and or hobbies. Please bring a picture of your student doing something they enjoy. It can be a picture of them engaged in a favorite sport of hobby.
This picture will be displayed all year and will be returned at the end of the school year. Throughout the school year they are welcome to switch their picture out for another if they would like.
Information about Dyslexia
Each year I send out a link to the HBO documentary "The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia" but I have not been able to find a free version this year. If you have HBO it is playing on October 29th @7pm. Below is a link to the trailer.
Also attached is a short video about dyslexia.
