Monday Morning Bearcub Brief

Volume CII--13 May 2019

"Every CUB stepping up, reaching out, moving forward!"

Kleb Kudos

Hey Bearcub family, welcome back from an impromptu three day weekend! I hope that everyone was able to stay safe and dry, and is ready for these last three weeks of school. This week the final round of STAAR has finally arrived, so good luck to all of our testing Bearcubs...and to the staff who have to weather the exhaustion of proctoring. Thank you for all that you have done to get our students ready to show all they have learned this year! At Kleb Intermediate, high stakes testing is just a small part of Bearcub life...so let's take a look at some of the other great things happening on campus last week!
This week's first kudos goes out to Kleb's Symphonic and Concert A bands. Our bands recently competed at the Gator Music Festival and both bands received superior ratings from all three of the judges. In addition, the Symphonic band was named the Gator Fest Grand Champion! We are so proud of our students and their successful year in band. A special shout-out to Mr. Gonzales and Ms. King for inspiring our students to pursue excellence in the arts and leading our students on campus. Great job!
My next kudo goes to Ms. Manning and Ms. McCollum. These two women do a fantastic job serving our students in the clinic and helping to keep our Bearcubs safe and healthy. During National Nurses Week, I want to take a moment to say thank you for all that you do on campus to support our staff and students.
The final kudos for this week goes to our amazing teaching staff! During our Alice in Wonderland inspired Teacher Appreciation week, our campus took a moment to celebrate all of our wonderful staff members and everything they do to support our students on their pathways. Thank you for building positive relationships with our students while providing engaging learning experiences that challenge them on a daily basis. Thank you for collaborating and communicating with fellow educators in order to promote efficiency and build a thriving professional learning community. And finally, thank you for helping us to foster a positive culture on campus that is focused on the academic and behavioral growth of our students. Thank you!

Cubs of the Week

Huggins Highlights

Parents: Don't forget that this week (May 13th through 17th) is STAAR week! We will be a closed campus Monday through Thursday. Just like during the first round, this means that no deliveries will be accepted during testing and there are no visitors during lunches. Lunch schedules will be tentative on those days due to the nature of testing. Additionally, students will be able to bring a small snack that does not disrupt the testing environment (please no giant crinkly bags of chips, etc.!) for use during testing. We will also provide students with a small snack and water.

Staff: Our closing procedures staff meeting will be this Friday, May 17th. We will distribute our closing procedures packets and check out sheets, go over the highlights, and listen to our brief guest speaker, Vistas High School principal (and Kleb parent) Bob Anderson, give a brief update on our state congress and the education bill in queue.

Final Exam Schedule:

Friday, May 17: TSDE (part 1), Prin. Info Tech (part 1), PHS (part 1)

Monday, May 20: TSDE (part 2), Prin. Info Tech (part 2), PHS (part 2)

Tuesday, May 21: Prof-Comm., DDMP (part 1), Gateway to Technology (part 1), Health (part 1)

Wednesday, May 22: DDMP (part 2), Gateway to Technology (part 2), Health (part 2)

Thursday, May 23: Spanish I & II (part 1), Algebra/Geometry (part 1), Art 1

PTO CORNER

Here is what is coming up for Kleb PTO:

We are still taking nominations for next year’s board here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1A9ph9t5_T9WxQ4-s10iRfF0GcCh6l7P4qFmz_TSu5lY/edit (or you can print a form from the PTO website)

If you have a little time or a skill to offer, please consider putting your name in the hat so we can create a strong, well-balanced group that represents our WHOLE school. Don’t forget to pass the interest/nomination form on to anyone who will be coming up from elementary school too. We would also like to have a contact in each of the clubs and organizations here to make sure we are as connected as possible to the needs and activities of our kiddos. Thank you for continuing to support Kleb PTO!
