Makerspace

Coming Soon to Our Library Media Center!

What is a Makerspace?

"Libraries are no longer simply a holding area for books, they are community hubs. People gather at the library to share ideas and enrich their lives. But did you know that libraries are now becoming much more than books, computers and internet? Libraries are becoming creation spaces, often called makerspaces. A makerspace is a place where young people have an opportunity to explore their own interests, learn to use tools and materials, and develop creative projects. "

Plans For This Year

Students will be presented with a new challenge each quarter. The first challenge will be: "Design our new school library." They may use building toys, art supplies, graph paper, recyclables--anything we have! We look forward to seeing what the students create and possibly adding some of their ideas to our new library media center next year!
