The two Presidents

The president for the North was Abraham Lincoln. Many people in the North didn't like him because he lead states to secede. The president for the south was Jefferson Davis. Most of the people in the South liked him but sometimes he wouldn't cooperate.

The Population

The population for the North was 22 million. The North had 23 states.
The population for the South was 9 million. 3.5 million were slaves. The South had 11 states.

North- they had 2.1 million people in the army. 180,000 were black people. 130,000 came from slave states.
South- They had 1.5 million people in the army.
