First Days of School
- A-L Kindergarten students start on Monday, Aug 27 and do not attend school on Tuesday, Aug 28.
- M-Z Kindergarten students start on Tuesday, Aug 28 and do not attend school on Monday, Aug 27.
- ALL Kindergarten students attend Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Aug 29-31.
The purpose of the staggered start is to give kindergarten students a chance to become oriented to school in a smaller group.
For the first day of school: Students normally will arrive at school and have an assigned area in which to wait until the bell rings at 8:25am. On the first day only, students may go to their classrooms at 8:15am. Kindergarten students and parents will meet their teachers in the cafeteria on the first day. The bell will ring at 8:25am when all students must head to their classrooms.
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
This year, the building will open at 8:15am each morning. When students arrive, they may go the cafeteria for breakfast or to a location assigned to each grade level. At 8:25am, the bell rings for students to walk to their classroom. Being on time to school is important for learning. Students will be marked tardy if they arrive after 8:30 am.
Dismissal:
In order to ensure our after school dismissal goes smoothly, we have a system for pick up based on grade level.- Kindergarten: meet your child between the two sets of bike racks on the side of the school next to the staff parking lot.
- 1st grade parents: meet your child at the end of the sidewalk past the bike racks on the grass area.
- 2nd grade parents: meet your student in the grassy area near the flag pole.
- Grades 3-8: let your child know where you will be meeting.
We ask that all parents wait outside the school building to meet their children.
Important Reminders:
**Please make sure your child knows his/her going home plan and sticks with that plan. To ensure the safety of your student, please communicate any changes in going home plans with your child before he/she arrives at Springville and let the school know about the changes in writing. Calling Springville during the school day to change after school plans can cause confusion for both students and staff.
Early Release Wednesdays Start Wednesday, September 5th!
Beginning September 5, 2018, the early release dismissal time for Springville will be 1:35.
Volunteering at Springville
For that reason, it's critically important for all volunteers to register with the district system (MyVolunterPage.com). The system requires a background check that can take time, so we ask that you register as soon as possible. This is required if you come often to volunteer or even if you come occasionally to help with classroom parties or volunteer on a field study. Every adult that works with students must be registered in our system with a background check.
We are also reminding parents that we are asking volunteers to keep younger siblings at home so that your full attention can be dedicated to Springville students. We hope this invites opportunities for families to connect for childcare and support one another so that more parents can volunteer if they wish.
Please click on the link below to register in the volunteer system.
