Little Prairie Primary School
February 2024
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Little Prairie families,
It is hard to believe, but we are well into our second trimester, and we are approaching the celebration our 100th day of school! As we enter into February, we ask that you please keep a few things in mind regarding drop off and pick up:
** If you drop your child off at school, please make every effort to get him/her here on time.
Students should be in the building and to their classrooms by 7:50. We are noticing an increase
in the number of students arriving late. Please know if students arrive after 7:50, they have to
come through the office and are marked tardy.
** Please drive slowly and be attentive to what is going on around you. With having a crosswalk at
the start of both our drop off and pick up lines, it is imperative that drivers are extra careful,
cautious and aware of pedestrians crossing.
** On occasion, the weather may require us to dismiss our car-riders from inside the building (such
can be the case with extreme cold or also when it rains). We ask that you either remain in your
vehicle, as usual, or wait on the sidewalk, and we will dismiss them to you. We ask that you
please be patient with us in these situations, as it takes a little more time.
** Although we have a long stretch of curb between Little Prairie and Prairie View, please avoid
pulling up/parking there during dismissal. This is the space utilized by the PV pick-up line, as
well cars that advance forward on to pick up at Prairie View. Thank you for your help with this.
The late winter months also bring Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences are scheduled for March 7th and March 12th from 3:15-7:15. You will be receiving more information about conferences and signing up for conferences toward the end of February.
Not only does this time of year bring the 100th day of school and conferences, but it is also time to start thinking about a new group of students joining our learning community in the fall. Registration for 4K students or new 5K students (who are not currently attending 4K) will take place online, and is open now. If you have any questions, please call the Little Prairie office at 642-6730 x2221.
This is an exciting time at school, as it is the time of year where we often see the most academic growth in students. We look forward to the exciting months ahead!
Focused on growth for all students,
Lindsey Harris, Principal
February's PBIS theme is HONESTY!
** Just a friendly reminder about completing a bucket drop and sending it to school when you catch your child showing “bucket filling” behavior at home.
**Don’t forget to wear your school shirts on Mondays.
**We are very close to earning our next school-wide reward of "Winter Bingo.”
**We recently reviewed our school-wide PBIS expectations (with specific emphasis on: following directions, being respectful, showing kindness, and being responsible).
**A big thanks to Marcus Theatres: Student Motivation Program for donating two-for-one movie passes (with complimentary soft drinks). When students return “bucket filling drops” for demonstrating bucket-filling behavior at home and in the community, they will receive a movie pass. Additional copies of the “bucket filling drops” can be found here.

Gym Shoes & Extra Clothes!
Please make sure your student is bringing gym shoes on the days their class has gym! If you are unsure of which days your student has gym, feel free to reach out to their teacher or call the office for more information.
ALL students need an extra pair of clothes in their backpack or in their cubby. If your child gets muddy or wet at recess, spills on their clothes at lunch, or has a potty accident, we cannot guarantee we will have clothes for them to change into. PLEASE send an extra pair of clothes with your child to keep at school to help them remain comfortable in these uncomfortable situations.
