2021 Douglas-Sarpy County 4-H Alumni Scholarship - Due April 23, 2021
The Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Council will be selecting four alumni 4-H members to receive college scholarships. THIS IS A NEW AND EXCITING AND WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY!!
The following scholarships may be awarded to those that meet the qualifications and complete the attached application:
• Four-$500 college scholarships
Requirements for the scholarship are:
• Applicant must be a 4-H Alumni of the Douglas-Sarpy County 4-H program.
• Applicant must have an average GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Applicant must be at least a Freshman in college (cannot be a current high school senior)
• Proof of registration classes for the Fall of 2021 will be required to redeem scholarship if awarded (Tuition statement, class listing, etc.) Please email proof of enrollment to kimparks11803@gmail.com.

Calling All Adult Volunteers!
On Tuesday, May 4 at 6:30pm we'll be hosting an in-person training for all adult volunteers and leaders in the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Program. Not ready to meet in-person yet? We'll have 2 other ways to join: virtual via Zoom or watch the recording at a later time. Register at https://go.unl.edu/vol-training

Food Science Exploration -Show the connection between food and science as it relates to food preparation, food safety, food preservation, or food production. Exhibit may be a poster or foam core board (not to exceed 22” x 30”), computer based presentation printed off with notes pages, if needed, and displayed in a binder, an exhibit display, a written report in a portfolio or notebook. Consider neatness and creativity.
4-H Club Community Service Opportunity
Community service activities are an important part of the 4-H experience. If your 4-H club is looking for a community service opportunity the Douglas County Extension office is in need of your clubs service in April and May. Animal Information

Get ready for 4-H Fashion and fun!
The 4-H Fashion Show is an opportunity for youth to showcase their clothing construction and consumer management skills. The 4-H Fashion Show judging will be held in-person on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Douglas-Sarpy Extension Office, 8015 West Center Road from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Youth will then showcase their skills on the runway at the 4-H Fashion Show at the Sarpy County Fair on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.

Free Morning of Activities for 4th-8th graders!
The Imagine Science-Omaha team is looking for 4-Hers to participate in Demo Day. This day is designed to help our teen teachers and interns practice facilitating for camps this summer. Demo day will take place on June 4th, 2021 from 9:00am-12:00pm at the Extension Office.

STATEWIDE AND NATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
Biggest Grower High School Gardening Competition
Registration is now open for the Biggest Grower High School gardening competition. Students will receive seeds/plants and basic tools. They’ll be added to a team and the members of the team that grows the most will win a prize. Juniors and Seniors can also win a scholarship to the UNL Agronomy and Horticulture Dept. I’ll be able to help students that need it, and we do have some staff that will be offering training as well. We also plan for an on-campus event if COVID protocols allow.
High school junior and senior participants will have the opportunity to apply for a College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Department of Agronomy and Horticulture scholarship of up to $1,000.

3D Modeling via Zoom
For youth 8 years older
Learn how a 3D printer works & create your own 3D printed design. Within this workshop, you will create an account and use free online software to learn basic computer aided design. Upon completion of your 3D model, you may email the instructor your file and the 3D print will be mailed to you at a later date. Offer is limited to residents of the continental United States and one 1-hr print per registered participant.

PINK Ear Tags for County Only Beef and Swine, as well as EID Tags for Nebraska State Fair/AKSARBEN Beef and Swine are available for purchase at the Omaha or Papillion Offices.
DNA envelopes are also available for market animals intending to be exhibited at the State Fair or AKSARBEN. This is for Market Beef, Sheep, Swine and Meat Goats
All Breeding and Market Animals being exhibited at the State Fair need to be nominated by June 15th at Show Stock Manager Login (showstockmgr.com) All payments for nominations and DNA are made on this site. (We do not accept these payments in the office)
All DNA Envelopes must be turned into the 4-H Office by June 15th.

The Papillion 4-H Extension office is once again on the move! We are now located at 1102 E. 1st Street, Papillion, NE 68046. We are at the intersection of 72nd and 1st in what was previously the Black Hills Energy building. Due to ongoing construction, we won't officially be open until May.
