This is the month with a theme of gratitude and at Meadows, we are grateful for our students and families. Thank you, Rockstars for working so hard during this time of distance learning. We are proud of your resilience and dedication to your studies! Spirit days will focus on the theme of gratitude!
The official NSD school calendar has been posted to our main website. Click here for English and click here for a Spanish copy of the parent calendar.
Monday is the last day that we are accepting photos for our Veteran's Day celebration. A video will be created of all of the fun Halloween and fall themed photos that you sent to us. We will share this video with our classroom teachers next week.
Later this month, for the week of 11/15, we will have Fall Conferences and Distribution Day. For Fall Conferences, parents will receive an email directly from the teacher to sign up for fall conference time frames. For the next distribution day, students will receive art supplies, some academic materials and APEX fundraising packets.
Also, there will be no school from November 23rd-27th for Fall Break and the Thanksgiving holiday.

November Update- Reopening and Compliance Committee for K-12 Health Guidelines
Our K-12 Covid 19 Compliance and Reopening Committee met last week to discuss the reopening of our K-2 classrooms. We discussed our bell schedule, PPE materials, the entry and dismissal of students, physical room set up, special education, bathroom use protocols and cleaning schedules.
- Bell Schedule- The AM class time is 8:00am-10:30am. From 10:30am-12:30pm, classroom will be cleaned. The PM class time is 12:30pm-3:00pm. Kindergarten ends ten minutes earlier. Kinder AM will be 8:00am-10:20am and PM will be 12:30pm-2:50pm. SDC classes will be held from 8:15am-11:45am. Students may only arrive 15 minutes before the first bell for AM and PM classes.
- PPE Materials- Every classroom will have extra PPE materials, including disposable masks for students and staff. Every person entering the building or our physical campus is required to wear a mask. This week, teachers also placed work orders for goggles and face shields.
- Entry and Dismissal of Students- A final map and plan will be shared this week with staff. Two final drafts were presented to the committee for feedback.
- Physical Room Set Up-Custodians and teachers worked collaboratively to configure desks to be six feet apart. Removal of furniture is in process and will be completed this week.
- Special Education- SDC teachers, behavior support specialists and aides were provided with time with Student Support Services about the reopening and safety protocols. Special Education at MW meets weekly to discuss the new protocols for assessment, PPE and safety of students and staff.
- Bathroom Use- One bathroom can allow up to two children in the room, the outside restroom can allow up to one child. Two of the sinks and stalls have been locked, and for one sink, the water is turned off to ensure there is safe distancing in the restrooms. They are cleaned between use by custodial staff. Drinking fountains are unavailable for use. Children must bring their own water with a closed top for the classroom.
- Cleaning Schedule- Custodial staff is scheduled to clean rooms before, between use and after classroom use. After special education testing, the entire room and area is sanitized.
The principal has met with Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade individually to answer all questions and concerns. We continue planning and preparing weekly. PPE materials were received this week in the nurse's office and PPE materials and the situational flow map for student symptoms will be reviewed at the next staff meeting with teachers. This was sent to every teacher as a response protocol provided by LA County for any Covid-19 symptoms. Please reach out to us with any questions.
APEX Fundraiser Meadows Foundation
Our major annual fundraiser, Apex, is coming up next month! Apex is the organization that runs our fundraiser from top to bottom. The event takes place over a two week period where Apex will provide our kids valuable daily lessons and encourage them to request financial pledges from family and friends to raise money for our school! On December 3rd, Apex will culminate with the final event! On this day, our students will do fitness moves to earn the funds that were pledged. Please join us in participating in Apex to raise funds for our school’s programs next year!
