Traffic at Arrival and Dismissal
We recognize that due to our location, parking and student drop-off/pick-up can be a challenge. We need your help to keep everyone safe at arrival & dismissal.
Please use crosswalks: We ask that students and parents please use designated crosswalks. Cutting across the street at other spots is dangerous with traffic in the area.
Please observe no parking zones: Please refrain from parking in the designated No Parking zones at the corner of Gray & W. Cedar. Parking in those zones limits the ability for traffic to make turns and makes it difficult to see people in the crosswalk.
Please pull forward: We know that this is easier said than done, but please try and pull forward as far as you can when dropping off/picking up. IF we maximize our use of the curb/sidewalk in front of the school things will move more quickly.
Talking to Children About Violence: Tips for Parents & Teachers
High profile acts of violence, particularly in schools, can confuse and frighten children who may feel in danger or worry that their friends or loved-ones are at risk. They will look to adults for information and guidance on how to react. Parents and school personnel can help children feel safe by establishing a sense of normalcy and security and talking with them about their fears. See the link below for tips:
Community Event: North Webster - A Black History Month Program

BE Connected
Book club will meet on Monday March 5 at 7 pm at Novel Neighbor to discuss "North Webster: A Photographic History." Amanda Clark, founder of Renegade Bus Tours and unofficial Webster historian, will help our conversation and share some local stories with us. We are also inviting Steger Equity Parents to join us.
Save the date for Tuesday April 24, when we hope to host a community-wide speaker + family event. We are working to confirm Dr. Jameca Falconer as the speaker for grown-ups. Dr. Falconer is a practicing psychologist who also prepares future school psychologists studying at Webster University. The topic we are discussing is "How do we value difference?". We will host a separate program for kids, maybe an art class or storyteller. More details soon!
As always, we welcome new folks into our planning process. We will probably meet in early May to talk about goals for next year. Please consider joining us!
See you soon,

We Stories Kit Feature
The Family legacy We Stories kit collection takes you through stories of the experiences and traditions that make the tales parents pass down from generation to generation. You will get to travel with families as they go from place to place, facing new adventures together. The discussion guide gives you a chance to talk about your own family traditions and how they might be similar or different to the stories you're reading.
A favorite book in this kit is Juneteenth for Mazie, written and illustrated by Floyd Cooper. To check out this or other We Stories kits please stop by the library!

Art to Remember
Dear Bristol Families,
I wanted to let you know that many children received order forms for Art to Remember this past Wednesday. The deadline on the form says that it is today (Friday, February 23rd), but I have been able to extend the ordering window until March 9. Please know that if you place your orders right away, you may need to wait 5 weeks until your orders come in. I also wanted to make you aware that ATR orders can now be placed any time online for added convenience.
This year we had a large number of late finishers due to classes missed from illness, holidays, assemblies and rehearsals. If your child did not receive a form, please know that most remaining art was shipped off earlier this week, so late forms may not be arriving for another 2-3 weeks yet. If memory serves me correctly, these forms will not be personalized with your child’s drawing on the front. However, once you receive a form there should be an order number included with it. If you enter your child’s order number at www.arttoremember.com under the ‘Shop’ icon, you can view a thumbnail of his or her drawing.
I will send out another email once the second batch arrives. If you still did not receive your child’s form by this time, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at capron.marissa@wgmail.org.
Thank you so much for your support!

Your Child's Progress
As you are probably aware, we shifted our parent-teacher conferences this last year. We started out the year with Jumpstart Conferences in August. Teachers met with you to learn all about your child. Teachers report the Jumpstart Conferences were a great way to make personal connections with you and they felt like they got to know your child more quickly than in the past. We hope you felt the same. We met with you again in November so that teachers could share with you the progress your child made during those first three months of school.
We will not have formal parent-teacher conference nights this Spring. Our hope is that through various tools - Seesaw, e-mails, phone calls, newsletters, conversations before/after school, etc - you have been kept in the loop about what’s happening with your child at school; that you are well aware of the progress your child is making.
Please know that while we’re not having formal parent-teacher conference nights this Spring, our teachers’ doors are always open. We want you well informed so that our partnership with you is as strong as possible. Should you want to meet with your child’s teacher, just reach out. Our teachers are more than happy to set up a time with you!
