How can the money in a 529 account be used?
Money in the 529 account can be used to pay for tuition, room and board (with limitations), books, supplies, fees, equipment, computers, certain peripheral computer equipment, internet access and related services, and computer software if the items are to be used primarily by the Beneficiary during enrollment or attendance at any eligible postsecondary school in the U.S. or abroad. The 529 account can be used to pay for qualified higher-education expenses at any eligible education institutions, including: post-secondary trade and vocational schools, 2- and 4-year colleges, and postgraduate programs.
