The Impact of Harry Potter

The Harry Potter book series was written by British author J.K. Rowling. The books were published from 1997-2007. They were originally printed in English in America and England. They were such a hit that they have since been published worldwide. They have been made into movies by Warner Bros. Pictures.


Harry potter is the best selling book series of all time, selling more than 450 books. The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, became the fastest book in all history.


Cultural/Social: A whole generation grew up reading and watching Harry Potter as it came out. The series has a very large worldwide following. The books have brought all different types of people together. The story has taught lessons of love, friendship, courage, and good triumphing over evil.

Political: A recent study showed that Harry Potter fans tend to be more open to diversity, are more politically tolerant, and more politically active. 60% of fans who read all the books said that they voted for or favored Obama.

Economic: the Harry Potter series has created many opportunities for new jobs. It has helped create jobs in the areas of publishing, film making, toy making, and has even had a new theme park made off of it.

Long Term Impact:.The series has driven many people to "fight wrong in the world" and to act instead of just sitting around. The books are still raising millions of dollars and many say they will be read forever.
