Virtual Learning Week
How are we feeling about a week of virtual learning? Excited? Yeah probably not. Didn't think this bad dream would last two years, did you? Ok, five days of online learning isn't quite a nightmare but none of us believe this is the best way to teach children. I am thankful both the USBE and our school board only approved this through Friday only. We're beyond excited to see our students back in person on January 24th.
In the meantime, let me sing the praises of our teachers, who have spent Friday and much of the weekend preparing their Google Classrooms for the next four days of virtual learning. They can pivot like Naomi Osaka on the hardcourt, ready for whatever flies at them.
Let us hope for a return next week, fully staffed, healthy and ready to keep growing.

Counselor Corner
Hello, PHES Parents!
Here is what we will be learning in social skills this week:
Grades K-2:
Watch the following video to learn more about what mindfulness is, why it is important, and how it can help calm our bodies/minds. Practice the skills that you learn, and then use them when you are feeling mad, sad, or worried!
Grades 3-5:
Choose two or three of these activities to do to help you feel calmer and happier:
-Find a comfortable place to sit, close your eyes, and do this Mind Yeti exercise
-Do some Harry Potter yoga!
-Practice belly breathing.
-Do 2 acts of service for your parents or siblings
-Watch some of these satisfying videos and focus on breathing deeply as you do.
