8th Grade Academic Excellence & APEX Field Trip

Great news, Lancers! Our 2021-2022 yearbooks will be arriving by the beginning of next week and will be distributed through homeroom classes before June 16. We encourage students to write their first and last name in permanent marker on the inside front cover once they have received their yearbook. Our yearbooks are sold out so will not be available for purchase next week.

I Make A Difference! Congratulations Tracy Benson

This week’s “I Make A Difference” recipient has been a teacher here at Landstown for many years. Each morning she comes to work with a smile on her face and a willingness to help. During my first year at Landstown, this teacher was very welcoming and helped me to figure out 7th grade History and how to be a better teacher. She goes out of her way to share resources with anyone who needs them. Landstown is very lucky to have this teacher! I would like to give this week’s “I Make A Difference” award to Mrs. Tracey Benson. Thank you for all that you do for our school!

· applications to many colleges and universities.

Applications for current students are available online now at SchoolCafé.com. Applications for SY 2022-23 will be available for submission after July 1.

Landstown Middle-2nd Place STEM TRIFECTA COMPETITION

Landstown Middle School participated in the 2022 STEM Trifecta competition! Our 8th-grade team comprised Curtis Crowder, Spencer Degalleford, Martin Dontchev, Lizzy Godwin, Areo Newsome, and Liam Smith. Our team had to design, document, and produce a mechanism/device associated with solving a space exploration problem using a 3D printer. Our students worked hard to develop an interlocking landing pad with a built-in vacuum and magnets to facilitate safe land sites amongst different planetary surfaces. Historical research into NASA, marketing strategies/business models, and eventually, a lot of math helped fully develop our model and plan. Ms. Nader, our LMS mentor for the club, is proud of her team for working through such a complex project prompt and placing 2nd in the district competition!

VBCPS Transportation Needs for 2022-2023 School Year

The Office of Transportation is hard at work on the bus schedule for the 2022-23 school year, and we need your help to make certain that we have the buses and drivers needed to get everyone to and from school safely and on time.

Your child(ren)’s bus information lives inside ParentVUE, which houses bus stop location, bus times and bus number. If you have not activated your ParentVUE account, instructions are available here. Specific instructions on registering for transportation within ParentVUE are available here.

Beginning tomorrow, Friday, May 13, we ask that you let us know of your transportation needs and confirm or update the information in your account. Please complete this request as soon as possible, but no later than June 30. As of July 1, the information in ParentVUE will be locked so bus routes and schedules can be planned for the new year. If you do not register for transportation, there will be no bus service for your family.

If you have questions about the information in ParentVUE, please contact the school where your child is enrolled.

Congratulations Security Team Members-for earning PTSA's Staff of the Month!

HPV Vaccine for Rising Seventh Grade Students

The General Assembly passed legislation that requires the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to provide parents or guardians of rising seventh grade students with information on the HPV and the vaccine that prevents it. If parents or guardians have questions or concerns regarding any vaccine, they should contact their local health care provider for additional information.
