Sochi Scandal
The Stolen Gold
What Happened?
At the 2014 Winter Olympics, South Korean Yuna Kim and Russian Adelina Sotnikova came up against one another in the ice-skating challenge. To many of the viewers, it seemed that Kim would've taken the Gold medal with her stellar and near-perfect performance. At the end, Yuna Kim finished with a score of 219.11 and a silver medal. However, Sotnikova finished with a score of 224.59 and a gold medal, leaving Kim disappointed and dejected.
So what's the controversy?
It is believed by many that the judges, who's names and therefore nationalities were hidden, purpousfully skewed the score in Sotnikova's favor.
