Superintendent's Notes
January 14, 2022
CCPS Community:
Over the past few weeks, our coordinators, instructional coaches, and leadership have been out in buildings helping to cover classes due to an increase in staff absences and a shortage of substitutes. I have enjoyed going out myself to help where needed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time teaching kindergarten at Cecil Manor, serving lunch in the Cherry Hill Middle School cafeteria, and had a great time in the gym at Bay View Elementary with PreK, kindergarten, and third grade. I am so appreciative of everyone who has jumped in to assist in this "all hands on deck" approach in support of our students.
I am excited to share with you (in the video below) our first Student Spotlight episode in this new video series where we have a brief Q&A with one of our students from across the system. I think you will enjoy our first student featured and I look forward to hearing from more of our students through this new video series.
For our CCPS families, if you have not already done so, please take a few moments to participate in the Parent Communication Survey. Our ability to communicate with our community remains a central focus for me as we strive to continue to improve and shape our communication so that it is effective and timely.
This Monday, CCPS schools and offices will be closed in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. I encourage you to take time to reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. King, who stated, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" As a community, let us continue to work together to help one another and build an even better world for our children.
Sincerely
Dr. Jeffrey A. Lawson
