Wildcat News -- It's Our Time
January 27-31, 2020
Supporting our KC Chiefs!
Preparing for Super Bowl!
Art Time!
A Note from your Principal:
I hope everyone enjoyed yet another long weekend. As mentioned last week, long weekends can often make it difficult for our students to readjust when they return. Remember to keep your structures tight and be proactive, review expectations and make learning fun!
Thank you for your cooperation during the unscheduled fire 'drill' on Thursday, one of the alarm panels on the wall was tampered with. Please remember that any time the alarm goes off it must be treated as an actual drill. Staff and students must exit the building immediately and may not return for any reason until the all clear has been given.
Let's hope for a full week of teaching and learning leading up to a very exciting weekend! Enjoy the Chief spirit week and use this exciting time to help build engaging lessons for your students.

This week: This is our last week to collect ROAR ticket for the month. Congratulations to the classrooms that have earned their opportunity to participate. We still have some classrooms that are working towards that goal! Friday we will be duct tapping our beloved principal to the PE wall, continue to get student hype about this activity! Continue to hand out ROAR tickets there are still some classrooms that are working towards this goal!
Character Trait of the Month: Self-Regulation- One's ability to control and/or manage your emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. (See email on Zones of Regulation Strategy).
- Have your ROAR tickets ready for students first thing Monday Morning, distribute them like they're skittles along with positive reinforcement for behavior. (Students are crazy excited!) Fill out your Ticket trackers outside your class as often as possible! Keep kids encouraged.
- Hallways must remain at level 0 as we continue testing. Please be cautious of this and help model this for our students.
- Please do not see any students to the office, with an adult escort. Mrs. Reives is not able to watch students until administration gets to the office. Students should not be in the hallways at any time without an escort.
- Engage in proactive and engaging community circle activities.
- Review your classroom and school-wide rules and procedures
- Use your Tier 1 Behavioral Strategies (Verbal warning, redirection, safe seat, buddy room).
- Follow the discipline flow-chart, before using your walkie-talkie.
- Ensure students understand the expectations for a buddy room, this is not just a meaningless break time.
- When students return from the Buddy Room, welcome those students back with open arms and restorative conversations-- this is a crucial component of restorative justice.
- Use your ROAR tickets, students enjoy the school-wide incentive. This month we will be working on getting a total of tickets for each classroom in order to tape Mrs. Enders and Mr. Cherry to the gym wall! ROAR ticket winners of the week also get to get an extra trip to the School Store.
