More Recess Fun

Students have been enjoying their extra recess time this year! Most classes have 3 recesses each day which is a great break from the classroom. A new four square grid was added this year and it has become one of the most popular activities on the playground!

Happy Birthday Mary!

First graders have a sweet tradition of celebrating Mary’s birthday at Christ the King School. On Tuesday they presented her with flowers, prayed the Hail Mary together, and each first grader received a medal blessed by our new associate pastor, Fr. Bashkar. It was a joyful day!

3rd Inventors

Our teachers are doing a great job making normal classroom activities work even with social-distancing measures in place. Pictured below, 3rd grade students work on a project creating an invention during a Social Studies lesson.

Jr. High Meditation

Dc. Hartnedy begins each of his Jr. High classes with a 10-minute meditation. It begins with an invitation to become aware of God, who is looking upon each person with love and desiring to speak to them in their hearts, then 90 seconds of slow, deep breathing, and 8 minutes of attentive reflection on a scripture. Last week they spent time with Mark 10:46-52, the blind man Bartimaeus. The invitation was to "be attentive to where I most need Jesus in my life and equally attentive to Jesus' deep and loving desire to meet me in that need". His hope is to create an oasis, connecting with Jesus.

The Smiles Behind the Mask

We may not be able to see the smiles behind the masks but we know they're there! Third grade students made self portraits with their masks on and when the paper is unfolded a great, big smile appears! CTK students are doing a fabulous job with their masks!

News from the Bear Den...ROAR!

We held our first ever Mountie Volleyball game last Wednesday here at the Christ the King Bear Den. Our 8th grade CTK girls led the team to victory by roaring past the Forest Heights Falcons. Ummm that Falcon leg was mighty tasty... kinka like chicken!!! The Mounties 7th grade team is currently 1-0 and the 8th grade team is 2-0. We are hungry for more!

Our Firecrackers kicked off their first game this past Tuesday at Scott Field holding their own against the Pinnacle View SkyHawks. The team has been conditioning since this summer, working hard to defend our title from last year. Go Firecrackers!!!!

PTO Lunch and Learn

With over 120 views this year's PTO Lunch and Learn was a success! Maggie Young, President of Southwest EAP, gave a presentation on "Managing Your Children's Worries and Anxiety During COVID-19". Her presentation covers how to identify, address, and monitor these concerns. It is a wonderful presentation and applies to any child who has worries and anxiety, not necessarily related to COVID-19.
