MS Teams: Updates
Also, I've learned this week that features roll out in phases from MS Teams which is why some teachers get these updates while others have to play the waiting game. Hopefully over the next few weeks, these features will roll out to all accounts, but wanted you to have a heads up they were coming.
- Breakout Rooms - This feature will allow teacher to break students into groups easily without having to set up multiple channels. Click the link for video directions.
- Hard Audio Muting - This allows teachers to mute all students and prevents students from being able to unmute. Click link for video directions.
- Spotlight - Teachers can spotlight themselves or a particular student to make them be the focus of the view in the Team meeting. Click link for video directions.
Suggest features - You can suggest features to MS Teams and vote for other features that have already been suggested. The more votes a feature gets, the more likely Microsoft will take steps to get that developed and incorporated into the Teams platform. In Teams, click the Help button in the bottom left, then select "suggest a feature".
The "New Teams Experience" will allow you to possibly preview these features before they are officially pushed to all accounts. Click your profile picture in the top right of Teams, select settings, and there click the box net to "New Teams Experience". This "new experience" is not available on chromebooks, but students and staff on chromebooks should use the web browser for Teams as it's likely to have better functionality.
