Grief Support and Resources
Spotlight: School Social Worker and Psychologists
-Helping students manage their social-emotional needs while in school (i.e., stress management skills, interpersonal relationship skills, academic struggles, test anxiety, coping with anxiety or depression, etc.)
-Peer Educators (Fall Season Drug and Alcohol prevention, Winter Season HIV/AIDS and sexual health awareness and Spring Season, Mental health and suicide prevention.
-SafeTalk training for Peer Educator Students; Too Good For Drugs training for Peer Educator students, Northwell’s HIV/AIDS training for Peer Educator students.
-Promoting awareness and acceptance regarding a variety of issues that impact teens.
-Pushing into classes to provide mental health and mindfulness supports
-Providing special education counseling
-Chairing Committee on Special Education meetings and providing psychological evaluations
-Linking outside supports to students and their families
-Developing Individual Educational Programs
-Facilitating Active Parenting of Teens program for parents in the community

Brittany Mauceri, School Psychologist
Brittany Mauceri has been the School Psychologist for Garden City High School for the past two years. Before servicing Garden City, she worked as a part-time School Psychologist for Jericho High School for two years and was the full-time School Psychologist for Patchogue-Medford High School for one year. She has also serviced several districts across Long Island with varied per-diem positions that exposed her to many unique experiences. Brittany Mauceri received her bachelor of science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Fordham University. She then received her master's in School Psychology at Adelphi University. Ms. Mauceri is currently attending Fairleigh Dickinson University and entering her final year to receive her Doctorate in School Psychology. She is an active member of the National Association of School Psychologists and New York Association of School Psychologists. Ms. Mauceri is also a member of the Long Island Mindfulness and Resiliency Consortium and works closely with neighboring districts to foster resiliency skills in high school students. Ms. Mauceri is certified in school crisis prevention and intervention. She introduced the Learning to BREATHE curriculum to Garden City High School, an intervention that strengthens emotion regulation and mindfulness skills. Ms. Mauceri is passionate about helping students build resiliency skills so that they are ready and prepared to overcome any obstacle they may face. Her goal is to set up students for independence and success in pursuit of their post-secondary goals. She enjoys connecting with students and families and providing mental health and learning supports based on individual needs. Ms. Mauceri looks forward to continuing to support and service the Garden City community.
