WEEKLY LITURGICAL READINGS AND REFLECTIONS

29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sacred Scripture: Mark 10:44

“Whoever wishes to be first among you will be the slave of all.”

Personal Meditation

Family life can be exhausting! At the same time, God made our family to serve others as well. What does our family do to place others' needs above our own out of Christian love and care?

NCEA Weekly Reflections, Praying with you and for you as we focus on family and mission in Catholic education.

Blessings Everyone!

As newly noted in the calendar of coming events below, Catholic Schools Week will take place from January 31st, through February 6th. To send out a call ahead of time, we are planning on creating another CAREER DAY one day during that week.

Our Career Day last spring for our 7th and 8th graders was a huge success, confirming the value of partnering with parent citizens and businesses in our community to bring added current expertise to our efforts to prepare our St. Gabriel students for college and career. This year we would like to expand it to include 5th and 6th grade, and possibly extend over 2 days. We are also working to incorporate connections of STEM culture and learning across curriculum at St. Gabriel, which entails a solid partnership with higher education and business in our community. If you have a career that you are passionate about, and would like to offer your knowledge and experience with it as a worthy, fruitful, and fulfilling choice of career or study for our young people to discover and take their God given talents and go forth and make a difference, please let us know.

Currently we are planning for our Career Day to be on either Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday of Catholic Schools week. We are planning to schedule a series of speakers giving at least one talk, approximately 45 minutes long. Students will choose the various career speakers they wish to listen to. If you interested, and want further information, and are available any of those days, please let us know as soon as you can. Also, if you are interested in working with us to bring in business and higher education partnerships for our student growth and learning, please let us know.

Please contact Ahenrikson@st-gabriel.org, or donnalee.saladino@st-gabrielschool.org.

Thank you!

IMPORTANT NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

Did you know?

The Office receives many requests from persons and organizations in our community to share information and happenings in our area. We have a Literature Rack in the school lobby that is reserved for flyers and documents for this information literature. Our policy is to display these items here as opposed to sending a proliferation of additional literature home to our parents.

Please stop by the School Office to check out the latest offerings. Examples include: Jump Start Sports offering programs for JrK and K students, ordering forms for Grizzly wear and parenting articles. Administration approves all items that are housed in the literature rack. If you have an item for consideration please send it to our Communications Coordinator, Michelle Clarke at michelle.clarke@st-gabrielschool.org.

Note also, that if you have an important news or information item concerning the school to distribute, also please notify Michelle Clarke with your request.

Thank you.

Grandparents Day in Kindergarten

Kindergarten students began their day in excitement and delight as they prepared to have their grandparents and family members join them for our annual St. Gabriel Grandparents Day festivities.

Students presented a special song, poem, and story about the great love and pride they have in their grandparents. After the performance, all enjoyed refreshments, having a special photo taken, and showing off their work and activities in their classrooms.

If you hear of anyone in need of our services, please contact the School Office, or feel free to directly e-mail us.
