The Cougar Connection
Principal News & Notes February 2023 Issue

A Message from Principal Hambrecht
As we start the third quarter marking period of the school year, students will continue to engage in MCPS MAP testing and WIDA testing. We look forward to another great quarter of student growth and learning. Many of our students have made a tremendous amount of progress so far this year and we continue to be so proud of their hard work!
We hit the ground running with our 5th grade Chorus Concert and our Advanced Instrumental Showcase. Thank you Ms. Sugar and Mr. Poet for all your work. Our students performed beautifully and we were happy to fill our All Purpose Room with families.
We also held our first Lunar New Year Assembly. Our gratitude to Ms. Sugar for organizing this school wide event in which our own students performed. We are proud to celebrate the rich school culture at Cold Spring and this was a true example of just that. We look forward to making this an annual assembly for our students.
Soon we look forward to celebrating friendship with our traditional Valentine's Day classroom parties. Please make sure to review communication from your class room parents as they are working alongside our teachers to plan some fun for our students.
Please remember that school begins at 9:00am. Our first bell rings at 8:53am for students to enter the building and prepare for their day. The colder temperatures bring an increase in car riders so please plan accordingly and help your child get to school on time.

The Yearbook Chairs Need Your Help
We Need Your Photos!
Yearbook Photo Submissions
The yearbook committee is looking for photos from the first day of school and field trips. Please follow this link to submit your pics and follow the instructions to complete your upload. Select the appropriate folder in the left column and choose "candid photos" when prompted. While it would be helpful to know who's in the photos (our goal is equal representation among all students), that info isn't necessary to complete the upload.
We will try to include as many photos as possible, but we are somewhat limited by the size and design of the yearbook. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at pjfeinstein@gmail.com and garber.paola@gmail.com
