SUMMER

THINGS TO KNOW:

We had a great year at ORE. I am beyond fortunate to be the principal of such a great place. Thank you to all of you, the parents who made it another amazing year.

As you travel, relax and make memories this summer, a few things to remember...

*If you have PK and/or Kinder students, please make sure they are registered for school.

*As neighbors move in, help us by encouraging them to get their children registered as soon as they can. Registration is all done online.

*SNAPCODES - Snapcodes to update information will be sent to you late July. Once you get your SNAPCODE, it is important that you update information, even if nothing has changed.

If you are moving on to Vogel or Suchma, we hope you have a great school year! We are excited to see the amazing future for all of our students!

19-20 TEACHER

Students attending ORE for the 19-20 school year will receive an email the week of August 5. In the email, there will be a video with important information about the school year as well as the name of the teacher.

Families who have not updated their information using the SnapCode will not receive this email. Parents will have to complete the update before students will receive a teacher.

CAFETERIA BALANCES

If your child has an outstanding balance with the cafeteria, it is time to take care of that now. If you are not sure, you can check the balance on Parent Access or call the school. Please take a minute and double check as we have over $1400 in outstanding balances.

Payments can be made online through Friday at the link below. After Friday, payment will need to be mailed to:

OR hand delivered to the address below. Offices are opened M-Th 8-5.

READ OVER THE SUMMER

Came across this startling statistic -

Children who DO NOT READ in the summer can LOSE TWO TO THREE MONTHS of reading skills.

Kids who DO READ tend to GAIN A MONTH of reading proficiency.

Help your child GAIN by reading with them on a daily basis.

SUMMER READING INFORMATION

We encourage our students to continue reading throughout the summer so that the skills they have obtained stay strong. Our librarian helps with this by offering a Popcorn party for those students who participate in summer reading. Students are asked to read a total of 600 minutes over the summer. All they have to do is read, complete the form and bring it back with them the first week of school. The link to the form is below.

SUMMER GARDEN SUPPORT

In an effort to maintain our amazing gardeN throughout the summer, we are asking for some extra help.

If you are interested in helping take care of the garden over the summer, please email Tami Eldridge at teldridge@conroeisd.net. We are currently putting together a schedule to help with watering and weed pulling.

OUTDOOR CLASSROOM

As the new school year starts, we will be moving forward in raising funds for an outdoor classroom in memory of Mr. Wardrup. If you work for a company that will make a donation to STEAM education, please contact Mrs. Eldridge regarding the process to apply.

Continue to watch for opportunities to support this cause. We are in the process of planning a couple of large events in hopes to raise enough money to have an outdoor classroom in place by the end of the 19-20 school year.

Oak Ridge Feedback Form

Below is a link requesting parent feedback. This will be a permanent part of our monthly newsletter so that at anytime, you can provide feedback and/or ask questions.
