Message from Principal Mrs.De La Rosa
Mighty Burnet Families!
We hope everyone was able to get rest during our Thanksgiving Break. As you know, our Superindent, Dr. Elizalde has made the decision to begin 100% Remote Learning for the week of Nov. 30th through December 4th. We hope to be back on December 7th and continue F2F learning for those that have chosen to return to campus.
Parents, you can still contact our school through Let's Talk at 512-856-1426 or our school number at 512-414-3225 if you want to switch learning platforms.
Parents, you can also use these numbers to contact us if you are having any technology issues. We are here to help!
Please see the schedule for next week. We have rolled in the lunch and HomeRoom time to be the same for all students. When we return to F2F we will go back to the times we had.
Thank you for keeping up with information on our SMORE, Twitter and Facebook and rest assured we will communicate any updates! Please be safe and stay healthy.

Rapid testing for all on-campus students and staff
In our effort to minimize the post-holiday spread of COVID-19, all campuses will be in a remote setting the week of Nov. 30 - Dec. 4. In order to further curb the impact on our community, beginning Wednesday, Dec. 2, we will also offer three days of districtwide, drive-through, rapid testing for all on-campus students and staff, who will physically report to campus for teaching and learning. Testing is strongly recommended for those that are showing COVID-19 symptoms, those that have had close contact with someone that is positive or showing symptoms for COVID-19, and those that recently traveled for the holidays.
We will offer drive-through, COVID-19 testing at the following dates, times, and locations:
Testing Site Locations
- Burger Stadium
- Dobie Middle School
- Mendez Middle School
- Navarro Early College High School
- Northeast Early College High School
- Travis Early College High School
Dates and Times for ALL Locations
Wednesday, December 2nd from 9:30am-6:00pm
Thursday, December 3rd from 8:00am-4:30pm
Friday, December 4th from 8:00am-4:30pm
Items to Bring on Scheduled Date of Testing
- Completed Child/Student or Adult/Staff Consent Form
- Student/Employee ID
- Driver’s License or State ID (if applicable)
- Mask (all members in vehicle should have a mask on when arriving to the testing site)
- Parent/Guardian present if student is under the age of 18 (A student under 18 years of age may come unaccompanied to the testing site if parent/guardian has fully completed consent form. Any missing information on the consent form may lead to the student being turned away.)
To sign up for drive-through testing at an AISD site, please register here:

In addition to the testing that we are offering for on-campus students and staff, two of the six AISD testing sites (Burger Stadium and Northeast Early College High School) will have Austin Public Health (APH) present to administer a limited amount of COVID-19 tests to household members for students’ families that register by Monday, November 30th at 5:00pm.
For virtual learners/workers and those that are getting tested at other locations that also want family members to get tested as well, you can schedule testing on the same days with Austin Public Health by visiting COVID19.AustinTexas.gov or by calling 512-972-5560.

Face mask
Wearing face coverings correctly and consistently can helps slow the spread of COVID-19. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing; individuals are advised to continue to keep 6 feet between themselves and others, even when wearing masks. The use of cloth face coverings is especially important when students, teachers, and staff are indoors and when social distancing of at least 6 feet is difficult to implement or maintain. The CDC offers useful strategies to support students’ wearing cloth face coverings in schools, including strategies specific to elementary, middle, and high school settings, and for students with special healthcare needs. Face coverings are used to prevent infected persons from spreading the virus to others; per the CDC “Masks are recommended as a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people when the person wearing the mask coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice. This is called source control. This recommendation is based on what we know about the role respiratory droplets play in the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, paired with emerging evidence from clinical and laboratory studies that shows masks reduce the spray of droplets when worn over the nose and mouth.”
Except as otherwise provided as an excpetion, all persons age 10 and over must wear a face covering on buses or other school transportation vehicles, inside school buildings, and anywhere on school grounds, including outside. In the school setting, this generally applies to students in 5th grade and above. However, face coverings are recommended for children two years of age and older; in the school setting, this generally applies to students in Pre-K and above.
