What We Learned
This week we finished up with the Financial Literacy unit in math. In science we worked on characteristics of Earth, the Sun, and the Moon as well as visiting Nature Trails, which by the way was a TON of fun! I was so impressed with all of the 5th graders! They were so well behaved and participated beyond our expectations!
What We Will Learn
In math we will be focusing on STAAR review with rotations. I will pull small groups as needed, and students will be working on practicing strategies and applying vocabulary with a primary focus this week on multiplying/dividing fractions and decimals as well as solving multi-step problems. Feel free to have your child re-watch those videos this week to refresh their memory. We took a pretest on Friday with a new program called Think Through Math. I will base their technology lesson rotations on the results of the pretest, which will not go into the gradebook.
In Science we will continue learning about the characteristics of the Earth, with a focus on the layers, the Sun, and the Moon. We will also review the Moon phases. There will be a unit test the week after Spring Break.
