Recruiting Panel (October 24)
The Recruiting Panel took place in Ernst & Young Los Angeles office on Saturday, October 24. Over twenty students dedicated their time to pick the brains of 8 seasoned and new professionals about their recruiting experience. Topics discussed include interview skills, recruiting tips, what to do to get an interview, and what to do if offered none.
ISFFA professionals were very genuine and they shared relatable experience when they were recruiting. Students understood that it is not the end of the world if they got no interviews nor offers. They learned to reflect on that experience instead, look at what they could do to improve, and be proactive.
Thank you to the attendees of the event; we hope you learned more about the process and how to be more successful!
Public Speaking and Resume Writing Workshop (September 26)
We held our annual public speaking and resume writing workshop at the PwC office in downtown Los Angeles. The purpose of the event was to help both professionals and students gain confidence in public speaking and presenting themselves with confidence in the workplace. Our renowned guest speaker, Maurice DiMino, and he helped attendees develop their communication skills for workplace efficiency. Both students and professionals were able to take home valuable information on how to effectively communicate and retain the information that was delivered.
Pilot Mentor Dinner (August 31)
We held our very first mentor dinner with the purpose of connecting our student members with our seasoned professional members. Three of our student members (left to right) Yzabel Balagtas, Nia Salsapare, and Christine Llamoso met with one of ISFFA's founding members, Tonette Santilan, Director at RSM. The dinner was casual, and the four discussed career choices, public accounting, and how to progress in the profession. Thank you to these four for making the pilot program successful!
ISFFA Mock Interviews (August 16)
We held our 3rd annual summer mock interview event at the Ernst & Young office in downtown Los Angeles. The purpose of the event was to prepare students for the upcoming recruiting process and successfully land internships and full-time jobs they are applying to. The event had over 50 professionals volunteer their time on a Saturday to train and advise over 70 students on interviewing skills and resumes. Thank you to our sponsors, Ernst & Young and Becker CPA for their continued support!
