New River Curriculum Night & Band Rental, Thursday, Aug.18th
NEW RIVER BAND INSTRUMENT/CURRICULUM NIGHT THURSDAY, AUGUST 18TH AS FOLLOWS:
- New River Band Instrument Rental Night from 4:30-5:00 p.m.
- New River Curriculum Night:
- 5:00-5:30 p.m. Principal Message
- 5:30-6:00 p.m. Session 1 in Classrooms
- 6:00-6:30 p.m. Session 2 in Classrooms
Curriculum Night Sessions 1 and 2 in classrooms are the same, giving families with multiple students or parents getting home from work, an opportunity to get to their child(ren)'s classroom.

BOTTLED WATER DRIVE @ CURRICULUM NIGHT!
Please help provide cases of bottle water for your students. These cases are kept in classrooms to be used in case of campus lockdowns or emergencies. Thank you in advance!

School Hours: 8:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Students can be dropped off at 8:30 a.m. and will either go to the playground or to the cafeteria to eat breakfast.
Positive Principal Time with Dr. Marone
Students receive Wildcat Bucks that can be redeemed for prizes. Students had their first opportunity to redeem the Wildcat Bucks today, Wednesday August 18, 2022 during their recess. They were able to purchase Otter Pops using their Wildcat Bucks!

Families with Children Under the Age of Five
The Deer Valley Family Resource Center (DVFRC) is a great resource for families. They have an office on the New River Elementary campus. They offer parenting workshops, activities for kids and families and resources.

Medications On Campus
All prescription medications must have a written order from the physician stating the name of the medicine, the dosage, and the time it is to be given and must be stored in the Health Center: Written parent permission medication forms are available in the Health Center if medication is needed during the school day. Each bottle of medication must be in the original container and the medication form filled out and on file in the Health Center. (Ref. DVUSD Policy JLCD-E)
Inhalers and self-administered “Epi-Pens” may be carried if the proper medication form has been completed and signed. The form will be filed in the Health Center. (Ref. DVUSD Policy JLCD-R)
Diabetes Self-Management Authorization Form must be completed and signed, if a student is authorized to carry and self-administer diabetic medications. A student may carry a copy of the Diabetes Self-Management Authorization Form (DVUSD Form HS P-4) with supplies. A copy will be on file in the Health Center.
All over-the-counter medications must be stored in the Health Center: Written parent permission medication forms are available in the Health Center if medication is needed during the school day. Each bottle of medication must be in the original container and the medication form filled out and on file in the Heath Center.
Medications needed during field trips must be furnished by the parent to the teacher. All medications must be in their original containers with label intact and will be kept with the teacher or trip leader for the duration of the field trip. A Field Trip Medical Permission Form must be filled out and returned to the teacher prior to the field trip.
Medication may not be shared with others. Failure to follow these rules could lead to consequences, including suspension or expulsion. (Ref. DVUSD Policy JLCD)
Stranger Safety!
- Don't get rides from strangers
- If walking home with siblings-stay together
- First go home to check in with parent/sitter, then go play with friends
