Positive Weekly Message
Keep doing what you do every day and putting our students first. Remember you may be their only hope. You are doing great things! Have a terrific week.
"The Kinesthetic Hook" by Dave Burgess
- How can you incorpoirate movement into the lesson?
- Throw something, roll something, or catch something?
- Act Something out?
- Incorporate gestures and motions that students could do from their desk?
- Turn the room into a giant opinion meter and have students move to one side or the other based on the statements?
- Change a seated activity to a walk around activity?
- Use a game that incorporates movements and actions to enhance the lesson?
- How can you guarantee that every student is up and out of their desk at least once during the lesson?
One of the easiest ways to do this is "STICKY NOTES" Have the students put answers, opnions, statements on sticky notes and they are required to get up and put that sticky note on the wall/poster paper around the room like we did in August. (follow up by talking about what they wrote and put down for answers)
Coffee Filters/Paper Plates/notecards ~ Have stickents write on different mediums. Have students write on the plates or filters and pass down the rows and everyone has to add a different answer.
Technology: How can you incorporate technology into your classroom. Have you heard of Google Keep? It is super easy to use. There are hundreds of great things out there for technology. I'll add this one below in my technology section.
Students can:
- Act out a scene
- Create a commercial
- Create a rap
- Create a Poster
- Create Mind-Map
- Do Anything with food (We created a cell with jello)
The list can be endless. Use your imagination or google it like I do. So many ideas out there that are cheap that students never get tired of.
How to Report an Absence
We are ready to launch the new sub finder program. You use the program to register your absences. If you know you are going to be gone or you need to call in sick, you can either call in to the system or login through a website. Everyone will need to register by phone first. I have attached the steps needed to register. Your ID is your teacher ID number (on your teaching certificate) if you are not sure what your ID is, your principal can look it up on a document.
For those that do not have an ID yet, we have created a temporary ID for you (99+last 4 digits of your SS ex. 991234).
If your teacher ID starts with a 0, the system does not take zeros, so just leave it off. (ex. Staff id 009983 – you would enter 9983)
If you are unsure see your principal.
I have attached some step by step directions on how to enter absences and how to move around in the system. Of course if any of you end up needed extra help, we can arrange that for you, but please try using the document that is attached first. This is not a complicated system so you should do well with the attached document. There are also videos available in the program by clicking on help at the top right, you can watch some videos that will explain the process as well.
If you are taking ½ day absence due to doctor apt or something like that, you will need to use the following times:
AM absence – 8:35 AM – 12:35 PM
PM Absence – 12:05 PM – 4:05 PM
When you are in the system you just modify the times as shown above on the date or days you entered for attendance.
