The Wolf Howl
Week of 2/28/16
I met the mom and boy on Monday morning and gave them a tour of the building. We popped into band, choir, and art (playbill was gone) and were greeted with smiles and welcoming comments from Paul, Callie, and Maryanne. We met Clint and saw one of the ASPIRE rooms. We passed several teachers in the hallway - all smiled and greeted us cheerfully. We saw students going to class with smiles and laughter. The counselors and front office were friendly as always. I really couldn't tell much about what the young man and his mom thought when they left after about 45 minutes here. But here is part of the email I received that morning from the mom:
"He loved CTMS-most of all, he loved the positive vibe he felt in your school. He could tell your teachers were happy to be there and enthusiastic about teaching. That is literally what tipped the scale for him! He didn't show much emotion during the tour and I couldn't read him. As soon as he got in the car, he smiled and said, "that was night and day different from the other middle school; I need to go to that school for the teachers."
I am so delighted to be in a school filled with happy teachers and students. I am thrilled that after only 45 minutes this perceptive 5th grade student could tell it was different than other places. That is because of each of YOU -- You are the heart and soul of CTMS! It's the Wolf Way!
A Wonderful Showcase Evening
We had the biggest turn out ever of future Wolf parents, and many 6th and 7th grade parents too. I thought it was an amazing evening, and I had lots of positive feedback from parents. Parents really enjoyed getting more information about electives, meeting future teachers, and seeing the flow of instruction in the core classes. I saw lots of people reading handouts from the classes too. It was also fun to watch families with current Wolves talk to our future Wolf parents, and to see relationships between grade levels. It was particularly nice to have all the coaches there (sorry about the rain delayed track meet!)
A particular thank you to Kate and Nate for this fabulous idea! It is a keeper for sure!
