8th Grade Celebration

Dear Families of 8th Grade Students;

Each year we like to take an opportunity to celebrate our 8th grader's transition from middle school to high school. This year we will be celebrating with our students at the Cascade Swim Center on Wednesday, June 12th from 11am to 1pm. All students will be invited to attend this celebration and no permission slip will be necessary. We will provide transportation for students from Elton Gregory to the Swim Center and then back to school before the end of the school day via district school buses.

A BBQ lunch will be provided for all students upon arrival. If your student would prefer to bring a lunch from home we will have a cooler available for transporting cold lunches. After lunch students will have the opportunity to swim, play games on the front lawn and enjoy their last moments of middle school together as a group.

Students should bring:

  • A swimsuit and towel if they plan to swim

  • Sunscreen

  • Water bottle

Some of our school staff will be accompanying students on this trip as chaperones and we have invited staff from RHS to come and have lunch with the kids and join in some of the lawn games as an opportunity to get to know the kids. If you would like to volunteer, help chaperone at this event or have questions regarding the trip please contact the school office at 541-526-6440.

We have appreciated the opportunity to educate your students and are looking forward to a fun celebration of their transition to high school.

End of the Year Band Concert

We are happy to announce the End of the Year Band Concert on Monday, June 10th from 6:30-8:00pm. We look forward to sharing the talent and skills of our Amazing Band students led by the Outstanding Band Director Renee Withers.

6th graders should arrive at 6pm and go to the band room. 6th grade families can make their way to the gym to find a seat at that time. 6th graders will perform at 6:20pm. After the 6th graders perform, families will meet their band student in our school cafeteria.

The 7th and 8th graders should arrive at 6:40pm and go to the band room. At this time the 7th and 8th grade families will line up in the hallway outside the gym for your student’s performance. Once the 6th grade performance is done and those families have left the gym you will be let in to find a seat. The 7th & 8th grade concert will begin at 7 pm.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found table is overflowing. Please encourage your students to look through and retrieve any of their belongings before the end of the school year. All items will be donated on Monday June 17th.

Student Tardies are on the Rise

We have noticed an increase in students being late to class and we would appreciate your partnership in communicating to students about the importance of being on time to class. Teachers are able to maximize instructional time by getting class started on time when all students are in class ready to learn when the bell rings.

Students have a four minute passing time between classes. There is a warning bell that rings one minute before the tardy bell rings letting students know that their time is running short.

The following image is from our student handbook regarding the EGMS tardy policy.

Nurse Notes:

URGENT!!!!!! Parents, please remember to pick up any medications that you have at school for your child by the last day of school. All medications that are left after the last day, including inhalers and prescriptions, will be disposed of by the school nurse. We are not able to send medications home with your child. We are not allowed to hold medications for you for the next school year. We get to start all over in the fall!

Immunization Alert!!!!

The State of Oregon requires all 7th graders to have a Tdap booster shot. Make an appointment with your provider for your child today to avoid the risk of exclusion next year. Immunizations can also be obtained at our school-based health centers at Lynch Elementary and Redmond High School. Most pharmacies also offer these immunizations and others on a walk-in basis. If you have questions about the state immunization requirements please give me a call at the school. I would be happy to answer your questions. Have a wonderful Summer!!!!
