Dilute, Dilute, Dilute!

A little diluting oils 101. We dilute essential oils with other fatty oils called carrier oils. These oils can be anything from coconut oil, olive oil, grape seed oil and more. There are a couple of reasons why we dilute. First of all, there are neat oils and hot oils. Neat oils don't need diluting but hot oils do as they will feel "warm" on the skin. Peppermint is an example of a hot oil, while Lavender is a neat oil. However- it's never wrong or a bad idea to dilute any oil neat or hot! Others reasons to dilute: A diluted oil covers more surface area on the skin and also helps the oil stay on the skin instead of evaporating. Diluting does not make the essential oil less efficient or effective. HINT: Most oils have the dilution ratio on the back of the bottle where the directions are!!
