WBMS Friday Notes
Dec 13, 2019
Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
What a busy week! It was filled with learning, concerts, an artist market, and more!
You may have noticed that recently our Friday Notes have been filled with massive congratulations for student success – Art awards, Music accomplishments, Robotics, Academic, and Math Team achievements, Spelling Bee winners, Tech Fair Winners, Reflections Winners, Reading awards, BETA and FBLA victors, Sports teams wins, and more. Our students are racking up accomplishments every week in and out of the classroom. Thus, this week I want to celebrate our students who “put themselves out there” by entering contents, running for leadership positions, trying out for teams or shows, raising their hands to answer or ask questions, taking a different approach to a problem or project, or performing in front of a crowd. Our students must keep stretching as learners and people, which is why we are committed to continually offering growth opportunities in and out of our classrooms. Some of our students’ academic growth can now be found in the SLDS parent portal. You can access your student’s individual growth report for last year’s milestones to see not only how he/she scored, but also how he/she grew as a learner. To fully understand the resources, click here for more information: website.
Enjoy the last weekend before 8th grade/high school course finals and the last week of the semester!

FBLA
Today our FBLA membership enjoyed hearing from guest speaker Ms. Marie Brown of Smallcakes of Alpharetta. Ms. Brown shared her path to success as well as the skillset needed to build a successful business. She reinforced to the students to continuously work on their communication, technology, and collaboration skills as well as be active in extra-curricular areas. During the meeting, the chapter also recognized the FBLA members who participated in this year’s Regional Leadership Conference testing events, members who donated gift cards for our WBMS Giving Tree fundraiser, and members who took an active part in the school’s Artist Market. Our next general meeting will be on Friday, January 10th. A reminder for those members attending the RLC awards assembly, we will be meeting at Alpharetta High School the evening of January 16. Our chapter wishes you all a happy and safe holiday season!
