Read Across JSE
This time of year we typically have our community wide reading event. Since we are unable to host this event as normal, we will be having "Read Across JSE". On February 1st we will announce the title of a book which the entire school will be reading! Students will read the selected work in their classrooms and teachers will be decorating their hallways to go along with the setting of the book. Be sure to ask your student what the title of the book is when they come home on Monday!

JSE Kindergarten Teacher Dr. Beth Gotcher Named to IXL Elite 100!
Please join us in congratulating our own Dr. Gotcher for being named to the IXL Learning "100 Elite Educators List"! IXL is an interactive online learning platform for k-12 students used to access curriculum, evaluate student progress, and analyze data. It is used by over 700,000 educators around the world. The Elite 100 represent IXL's highest-achieving classrooms worldwide and these teachers demonstrate an exceptional commitment to providing engaging learning through technology. Dr. Gotcher uses IXL to meet and assess her Kindergarten students' Language Arts and Math standards. It allows her to see how each student is performing on individual standards and adjust her instruction to best meet students' needs. Dr. Gotcher says, "I am lucky to do something that I love and honored for the recognition."

Inclement Weather
As winter progresses, we have already begun to see snow and ice. If we have a weather event, please monitor the radio ,television, social media, or MCS district website to look for delays or cancellations. Check for Maryville City Schools (not Blount County or Maryville Christian). The district’s automated messaging system will also send out phone calls and e-mails if there is any change to the schedule. If you have had any changes to your phone number, address, e-mail, or emergency contacts, please let the front office know ASAP. Thank you!
